Good afternoon!

The company picnic went about as well as company picnics ever go. There was a "mixer" activity that involved finding people from other groups within our "system of care" who fit certain criteria. I didn't feel like doing it. In fact, I spent most of the time off to the side reading my book. One of the coworkers though was extra motivated. She likes meeting new people, and is extremely competitive.

At one point, I just decided to follow her around and she could meet people and I could get the signatures I needed. When that was over, I turned in my bingo card, and I went back to reading my book.

At the end of the picnic, they pulled random bingo cards to win door prizes.

Who won a prize? Yeah, that was me. It was a RTIC tumbler. So, I won something and I mostly avoided other people. So that part is good.

The poll for the main competition closes tomorrow http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/998161.html
and the final Second Chance deadline is an hour after that http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/998873.html

It's not an April Fools joke. All of this is real. But what was been *your* favorite April Fool's joke (today or of all time)

Re: april FIRST ? ?
The paper I work for had that as our front-page story. We had a picture of Mike Pence with "Thank you, Jesus!" thought bubble typed in Comic Sans

Congrats on the win. You should share with that woman. :P

I intensely dislike April Fools jokes, because I intensely dislike being lied to. I don't find lies funny. I don't find "fooling" people funny, because I don't like to be humiliated or belittled, or duped.

I usually try to avoid the internet on April Fool's day, but today I went on Facebook anyway, and slammed up against George Takei's bullshit article. The whole time I was reading it, I was thinking, "Today is April 1. Do not get excited about this." But when I got to the end of the article, there was no reveal. So I started thinking maybe it was true.

But, because of our current climate, I have a habit of googling for secondary sources before sharing anything, and when I googled, I saw his top tweet was "No, I'm not running for Congress. Happy April 1."

I never do this, but I went to his twitter account, and I replied to him directly. I did not call him an asshole, for which I get points, but I did point out that it was juvenile and stupid, and in the current political climate where everyone is looking for some ray of hope, it is mean.

I expect he cares absolutely not at all for my opinion, but I know at least a couple other people, just on my FB feed who were saddened by it, and a person in his position just should not be spreading disappointment to celebrate Liars Day.

No, really Kate, how do you feel about it?

Wow. Good on you for making your feelings known!

Thanks. :) I guess I was just fired up.

"You should share with that woman. :P" It's a tumbler and a couple accessories that specifically for that tumbler. I'd either have to give it to her or share it with her, and that's way outside my personal comfort zone. ;)

I got that. I was being funny. that's what the :P was for.

About the only internet April Fools day thing I find charming is whatever google does to their maps page every year. You choose to click it on (or off) and it's usually something fun and playful. This year, it's Ms. Pac-Man.

I looked it up! Congrats on the tumbler!

My and Dark Snack's favorite thing is checking the ThinkGeek page for the joke items, knowing they are going to actually make some of them.

You all are much more fun than any April First joke. Keep on hanging together.
Oh, yes, kudos for the tumbler. Cool little story.

Hi Everyone,

I have had a bad couple of weeks health-wise. I find myself today without the energy for a last-minute push to get all the reading done. So, everybody gets my vote this week. I have really enjoyed what I have managed to read. I think you all are getting better and better. Good luck to you all...I'm heading back to bed. I will read and comment as best I can, throughout the week.

P.S. I didn't know where to post this. Hope it's okay here.
