Green Room - Week 3 - Day 4

Entries are being posted http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/958277.html and a Work Room is still happening for the vast majority who haven't posted yet: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/958506.html

But for those who have - make sure to get over there and check them out! It's one of the advantages of posting early, folks have extra time to read your stuff!

Then again, it also means that the spotlight is that much more focused!

How was your weekend?

Mine was OK. It seems like the last month or so has flown by. Not anywhere near as ready for the holidays as I thought I would be.

First first! I'm not sure if I can do an entry this week. Prompt is too hard :(. I can try...

Congratulations on being first! Kudos and stuff. (Grin)

It is hard, but sometimes when I start writing it starts to flow. Let's hear it for the subconscious!

Luck to you...and me...and all of us looking at the prompt still scratching our heads.

My weekend was great! Teendaughter arrived, back from college for a month.

Time for the happy dad dance! A whole month! Wow! I want to go to that college too. (Smile)

The answer to, "I wonder if that last bowl of soup is still good. I hate to throw it out." should always be, "Throw it the fuck out."

I will spare you the details.

Ours was good and productive. Not ready for holidays but busy as hell.

I've got a great false start to my entry. :( Hopefully another day in the subconscious will help it gel into something postable.

My weekend involved cleaning the Stately Turret and finishing Hat 2 of the seven I need to make. I'm making the hats a priority because people have offered me real actual money to make them. Hat 3 is on the hook right now and I should probably work on that while the story is gelling.

I have a reasonably good idea what I want to write this week... and a decent start, but now that I am back home / back to work, finding the writing time is going to get more difficult. Hopefully, I'll be able to finish it in time.

My weekend was spent mostly dealing with the aftermath of being gone for a month! Laundry, dishes, cleaning... picked up my farm share, and today I have to go to the grocery store for ingredients to turn my fresh veggies into something my husband will eat.

Ginger Carrot soup, anyone?

My weekend consisted of a sick husband, and a dead car. On top of that- the hubs left jumper cables and rechargeable battery (always good to have for JUST this purpose) in our old truck- at his Ma's.

Thank goodness a good friend came late Sat. to help! Ugh... and Sunday morning, I woke up 'gacked' at 4am. I thought it was allergies, now know it's not. I could join Rudolph guiding Santa's sleigh right now!

Nuts-- it was a Murphy's Law kind of weekend!

Nobody needs that. :(

Spent most of the weekend watching the Project for Awesome livestream.

I may end up taking a bye because not feeling any inspiration. Really don't want to take a bye just because of that though, I prefer to use them when I don't actually have time to write. We'll see what happens.

My weekend was kind of terrible. We found out on Friday that the cats have ringworm and that the thyroid medication we're giving our one cat is "at a toxic level" so we have to play around with his medication some more.

But the ringworm thing...ugh. We cleaned and sanitized the entire house. All the bed sheets were thrown away and replaced, the carpets were cleaned, the curtains were cleaned, all the laundry was done, the floors were mopped/vacuumed, the kitchen counters were sanitized, the couch and love seat were sprayed with Lysol, and there was probably more I can't remember right now.

Also, both cats have to be bathed twice a week for a month now. Can I just say that bathing cats is a very unpleasant experience?

ETA: And I'm stumped with the prompt this week. I'll have to go browse the Work Room and see if I get any ideas.

Yikes, what a chore. :(

The only tip I've heard for bathing cats is to get something like large-mesh metal, and put it on the bottom of the tub/sink (be careful to pad with towels so it doesn't scratch). A cooling rack for baking would work if the mesh is small enough (say, about 1/4 inch). When you put the cat down on it, they grip with their claws and that keeps the flailing down.

Ideally, if you can get them over the panic and bathe them gently and dry them with towels, they may get used to it. It's the panic that's the problem.

Good luck!

My weekend was good, but too brief. As always!

Teen daughter is home for the break. \o/ \o/ \o/

In lesser news, I made progress on my Yuletide story (which is due this week!), and all of the outside and inside Xmas lights are up. There were some casualties in our silhouette lights, and I have never yet found that replacing a fuse fixes anything, or that the light tester seems to actually work (or if it does, the batteries are always dead, and they're those weird little micro thingies).

Next weekend: baking and indoor Xmas decorations, unless our daughter decides to indoor-Xmas the house over the coming week. *fingers crossed*

My weekend was...well, a weekend :p

I haven't started Christmas shopping yet. Please tell me I'm not the only one.
Dec. 12th, 2016 10:34 pm (UTC)
You're not the only one. I'm putting it off because I'm a procrastinator who never learns from her mistakes.

Monday is actually the start of my *weekend*. And I am attacking the sewing/craft room.

A friend needs fabric to use as curtains for their new apartment.

I need to get some things organized so I can get my crafting table set up since I have insane plans to make reenactment garb by Jan. 7th.

And there's the general, "OMG!!!! THIS IS INSANE!!!!" point of accumulation.

Hey folks! Anyone available to beta? I think I'm too close to this one, and would appreciate a fresh set of eyes giving it a looksee. As the kids say- hit me up!

Hugs and peace~~~

I'm happy to help! I might not get you a response until tomorrow morning (hectic here) - would that give you enough time?

I got no ideas for the prompt that I'm happy with.

It was a cold weekend. We were in MD for interscholastic polo. We left super early Saturday morning and came back after the game on Sunday. I'm tired. I seem to have some cough that I can't shake that was not improved by dry air in a hotel room OR being out side for many hours in cold air.

Friday was cool though. We got to go see baby nutria that are at the rehab right now and Ashley the Otter. Baby nutria are super cute.
