Green Room - Week 1 - Day 11

Good morning and, in the words of Elvis Costello: "Welcome to the Working Week".

It may kill me Elvis. It just might.

There is a poll happening: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/953518.html It's the first one where there will actually be folks going home, so make sure to get over there to read, comment and vote for your favorites - and spread the word, because if you know of something cool and you don't tell anyone about it, then you're risking it going away (in this specific case, they could be eliminated)

With that in mind - Who isn't getting the love they "deserve"?

It's cyber Monday - so I'm sharing our Amazon link again: http://astore.amazon.com/li0cd-20

Get some cool stuff for your family, friends, or even yourself!

What was your favorite thing about this past weekend/extended weekend for those in the US? Least favorite?

Fav part of the weekend: Lots!
time off work
more sleep
read a WHOLE BOOK and wrote a review
saw friends

Least Fav part: When my kid was disrespectful, but she did apologize, so there's that.

Happy Monday!

I'm with you on the disrespect part. That seems to be the common theme in our house of late - not just with the 10 year old, but the 8 year old as well!

Favourite part: I got to "dance" several traditional dances on Saturday. I say "dance" because we did it as well as we could after only being shown the movements two or three times before dancing the dance once before moving on to the next one. The movements were all over the place but everyone had a lot of fun.

Not-quite-favourite part: spent half of Sunday grocery shopping - cleaning bathroom - doing laundry - mending clothes.

Good part: read several awesome Idol entries :P.

the long weekend when . . .

Want to see how deeply "a girl's body/life doesn't belong to her" runs?

Have a 13 year old change her facebook status to "it's complicated" (she was referring to her and her best friend but didn't clarify) and see the response.

Some of the comments were kind of funny but almost all of them were more cringe-worthy.

Well, it was my brother's birthday, so that was pretty cool. He is now old enough to drink (in my country, anyway), and I feel old.

My favorite part of Thanksgiving was having everyone home. Also, for the first time in my life, I made an apple pie. It tasted OK, but I was told to describe its appearance as "rustic." Better luck next time.

Rustic is perfect. :) there's a place here that serves hand formed apple pies. They are super yummy if "rustic"

Let's see.... favorite part of the weekend.... having a second Thanksgiving dinner at my best friend's house. She is the most amazing cook, and I left her house not wanting to eat another bite for the rest of the year. Also, when dinner was over, she, her husband, my husband and I played board games. Another awesome part of the year.

The least favorite? Probably the fact that I did something to my knee last Tuesday and putting weight on it for long periods of time still hurts. But, at least it's getting better!

See, could you come live by me so I can have friends and great food and some darn games on my holiday! Is that too much to ask? ;) I am really not happy with my hubby's family right now.

I finished reading and voting last night. I'm hoping to comment on some more entries but I knew if I spent too long commenting I would never finish the reading.

My favorite part of the weekend was having my girl home from school. We watched The Hogfather on Thanksgiving. I'd never seen or read it. We saw Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them on Saturday.

My least favorite part was trying (and sometimes failing) to keep the mask on straight and pretend that I'm not in the middle of everything falling apart.

I had my girl home, too!!

So, what did you think of The Hogfather??? I've learnt to stop rec'ing it because it seems quite a few folks simply detest it! ;)

My favorite part was when my plans were shot to hell and I was crying over things that have happened the past two weeks with hubby's family, I said enough is enough. I went to the store late Wednesday and bought enough to make a small Thanksgiving meal. We just had Family Morgan Thanksgiving with us and our two kids. I have the best husband and kids.

Best: Surviving PIE HELL and getting accolades from The Powers That Be. It's nice to be recognized for one's work.

Worst: My husband having to drive back to his work, which is in a neighboring state. Oh, The Boyz and I are getting used to it, but we can tell someone is definitely missing :(
Nov. 28th, 2016 08:17 pm (UTC)
BEST: Having the chance to (successfully!!) cook nearly all of Thanksgiving dinner for the family that was here.

SO-SO: I'm in Maine. Beautiful... but cold.

BAD: My husband is in Virginia... I miss him.

My "weekend" didn't start on Wednesday afternoon as it did for so many people, but on Friday morning. I worked Wednesday and Thursday over night, as usual.

I got a text from a friend on Friday and went with him to play Blood Bowl. I had never played before and it was fun for an afternoon.

I spent Saturday afternoon with my two younger daughters. My college freshman daughter had gone to her mom's in Houston from Austin for the holiday and brought her high school sophomore sister back with her. We went to see Dr. Strange together and had a good time.

Then on Sunday I went to visit with my married daughter and my grandson. I took them a little table and chairs set that had been in the family since my mother was little, so one more family heirloom passed down.

way more active than my usually introverted self can handle!
