Green Room - Week 0 - Weekend Edition

Good (very early) morning. Or whenever you are reading this over the weekend. Just look outside, or at a clock and pretend that was what I just said to you about the time of day.

***

After an election cycle that pushed so many people to the breaking point, and still has some afraid - after weeks/months of being cited as someone calm and who is willing to talk about issues, I finally ended up going after someone with verbal knives on social media today.

It wasn't because of who he voted for though, or that he was coming onto someone else's FB thread and trying to stir up unrelated shit. It was, quite frankly, because he is a bad person and I've just gotten tired of pretending that he's not.

Of course, I may have stirred up some drama of my own, but thankfully I was hanging out with his daughter and his grandkids at the time and they were the ones who told me to "Go for it" in responding to him. So I think I was justified.

But then again, doesn't everyone?

No big moral lesson here. Just a slice of my life, in this moment. Expand on it however you will.

***

There is a poll for the newbies that is up right now: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/949440.html, so make sure to go check it out!

Sign-ups are still ticking upward. If you know someone who wants to get in on the action, now's a great time for them to do so!

Any weekend plans?

Sometimes it's good to let people know when they're being out of order.

Plans for Sunday, a bunch of us are going round a friends house for a day of knitting and Disney films.

It's so early it's even early morning here.

Keeping my expectations low this weekend.

Yay for Nano. What are you writing? How much have you written so far? I haven't written much for Nano, maybe a couple thousand words, I'm not taking it very seriously.

I know of at least three people that have committed suicide since Tuesday night.

One of them, when her father was called to tell him what had happened, said, essentially, "well, that's the first good thing to come out of Trump's presidency."

People that don't seem to understand that this is not fucking abstract, that peoples' lives are literally on the line, and that the stupid Facebook posts they make, about how we need to suck it up and "stop whining" might be what pushes someone less stable over the edge.

I don't have anything profound to say. Just, yeah, call people out on their asshole behavior as you see it. Doing so may literally save someone's life.

I'm planning on upping my Nano word count by a non-zero amount and catching up on everyone's intro posts since I can't read LJ at work anymore. Sometime on Sunday I'm heading down to Lake Lure with a co-worker and a trunk full of Gatorade and water for the firefighters working the Party Rock Fire.

If any of you have any extra rain lying around, send it to NC. We really need it.

My husband comes home every weekend from his out-of-state job. He spends the bulk of the time sleeping while I'm at work. Except today.

1) It's my birthday (woohoo!)
2) He's upstairs still asleep
3) It's me who needs to sleep, so why am I awake?

It's also freezing outside. The Boyz are thrilled, of course. I'm very underwhelmed :p

Today I'm going to finish reading the newb entries and vote.

I'm going to try to stay the f off of FB.

I'm going to try to write down some of the words that have been twisting around in my mind for a few days.

I'm going to watch for the neighbor kid to see if he will drag my trash can around to where I can reach it.

Depending on the outcome of that, I may take out the trash. :)

Probably I'll wind up spending too much time playing games and avoiding the words that are twisting around in my brain.

Gary leave your evil old daddy alone! :)

Anyways, I was going to do something really fun this weekend like go to a Jewish comic con, then wrestling... then I remembered that I'm trying to save money for MUCH larger experiences.

If a friend calls to hang out I'll do that. Maybe I'll find energy to go to the gym, but I bet I'll just be Reid.

Definitely not my Dad. He's nowhere near social media.

An distant in-law. Who kept pushing until I called him a "Cocaine-addled, drunken womanizer".

Because, he uses cocaine, is usually drunk and has spent his life treating the women in his life horribly.

The only part he got upset about was the "cocaine". Because he apparently thinks the rest of the family doesn't know about it.

We have the season ending Turkey Leg Match for polo today. We received a text from the polo club president asking people to refrain from talking about politics.

I actually received a text from someone thanking me for calling someone out on facebook. I didn't do that for the thanks. I did it because if I don't who will. I feel very vulnerable but there's fight left. My friends and chosen family as well as myself, we are all impacted by this in big ways. I will not go quietly and I will not just watch.

I'm keeping Sabbath with friends on their acreage today. We're leaving at 11:45. I haven't even had a shower yet. Argh! I just want to go back to bed! Breakfast!

I hope and pray things will start to calm down. I have been trying to support and reassure friends and family who are hurting, terrified. Wednesday morning went after someone for stupid, horrible racist picture they posted. I used my big words. Totally intimidated them...I wish. So I just kept using my big words, then dumped them. Felt better immediately.

Tonight I have eighteen tntroductions to read, and I am really looking forward to it!

Hope you all drag as much of the good stuff out of today that you can.

Okay! Breakfast!

Today is my five year anniversary. My husband and I are celebrating by going to a wedding. What better way to celebrate our love, than to celebrate someone else's.

And tomorrow, is football, of course!

I'm sitting outside right now, so don't have to look anywhere. LOL It's 72 degrees Fahrenheit--Texas in November--and the only thing I have on my agenda is playing fetch with the dogs and reading LJ entries.

I hope you all have a splendid weekend!

I taught Zumba and tutored a student. Gotta run errands in a few. Tomorrow we're getting together for brunch at a place called Lily's Bistro in Dayton, Oh for Married Kid's birthday. She's 27 now, loves her hub and job but feels disillusioned and broken right now due to Tuesday's events. I wish I could make it all better for her.

Hi all! Finally here. It's been a good couple of days! Last night Bruno and I went to see the felice Brothers at a new venue in Turner's falls Massachusetts. It's a newly renovated theatre. What a great venue! It only holds about 300 people. A very rustic feel with exposed brick walls and big beams on a high ceiling. A comfortable space. I got to talk to some really fun and interesting people and listen to great music! The Felice Brothers were fabulous as usual. The opener was a band out of Eastern Mass. called Spirit Family Reunion...newgrass. They were fun as well.
Today I baked cookies and read. Hope all are having a good weekend!

I'm getting instruction in the fine art of gear placement for climbing rocks just east of a bunch of wildfires in North Carolina this weekend. It's cold up here so I'm glad I sprung for a hotel for the two nights of the course, but tomorrow night it'll be crisp, if smokey, Georgia mountain camping on the way back home. I love my #1 down sleeping bag. I'm crazy tired after a day of intentional falls and awkward stances, but hopefully I'll comment on a few more entries before crashing.
