Re: because I can't leave well enough alone
"Nobody then ever imagined Idol as being a springboard for "serious" (i.e., publishable) writing. This was LJ, for crying out loud. I admit I still somewhat subscribe to that. I wouldn't be surprised if others felt the same way."

The dream I had that led me to start Idol, that "Eureka! moment" had five Idol books. I knew from the start that it could be something serious. *I* took it seriously, from the first day.

On the other hand, I purposefully used comic sans as the font, because I want people to know there's also a silliness to it, and that those things go hand-in-hand.

I would expect you to take it seriously for obvious reasons :)

But speaking of books...had that idea occurred to you even before it'd even been discussed? I'm curious. I don't remember if we ever talked about it.

From what I remember (and see, this is where my memory goes fuzzy), it was *somebody*'s idea and it was batted around in PMs before being presented to you.

I don't want to dredge up anything so I'll leave it at that.

Re: because I can't leave well enough alone
As I said (see above), it was in the dream!

Did I think "I'm going to do this?" No. But when Spydie, and that was 100% Spydie who first floated the idea in Season 3, brought it up I thought "this could actually happen". But that one never came together, it wasn't until theafaye brought it up to me again that I saw her plan and thought it could work out. (and she did an amazing job with them)
