Green Room - Week 23 - Day 7

Good morning.

Actually, I'm not having a good morning (toothache). But hopefully you are!

So far, 2 of you have all 3 entries completed, and 1 is working toward that. The rest of you? Have some work to get done! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/932438.html

*insert "Or is this the Final 3????" rhetoric here*

How was your weekend?

Some of us are too busy writing to be all Posty McPostersons - except obviously, I'm procrastinating enough to be

FIRST

in the Green Room.

Back to work.

Damn, G. We have been dealing with a toothache here, too. The past week or so. Finally got in on Thursday, doc said he could save the tooth, temp crowned it and sent him home. Saturday it blew up and I had to run to town for antibiotics. Ugh.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

They just called in some antibiotics.

The good news is that I have an appointment in a couple weeks for a root canal. The bad news is that there is another area that is hurting that I *hope* is deferred pain, but if it's not, that's another root canal (and I'm now maxed out on my dental insurance coverage for the year!)

Sorry to hear it. I have thoughts about root canals, but will keep them to myself. I hope yours last. I don't have dental insurance and one year was $10,000 out of pocket. :(

Feel better!

PS:
If I get a free day June 3-13th, I will let ya know...Coming in town again for another graduation!

I am stunned to report that my root canal was just about the greatest medical procedure I've ever gone through. Intense tooth pain one minute, no pain at all the next. The modern world is amazing.

How long since you had your root canal?

About three years. I know its just a matter of time before the cap cracks or the tooth splits (my dentist was very clear with me on this point), but I've had no problems since I had it.

I know this is a "your mileage may vary" situation.

Glad to hear your dentist was honest with you about the longevity of most root canals. And men have better luck with this procedure in the long term than women, for biological reasons that have to do with a certain type of gender-specific bacteria.

All five of my root canals failed two years ago. It was a horrible and very dangerous situation.

The cost of each tooth:

initial filling - $400
root canal and crown - $1,700

Two of my teeth had originally been root canaled by a dentist, failed, then I was sent to an endodontist so add another $1,500 to those.

Of course I hope that folks getting root canals and crowns have work that lasts for decades! But I do think folks should do their research on this procedure.

Perhaps you need to buy a car that isn't a sentient being?

I'm actually kind of flabbergasted to have everything posted before the deadline. I can't quite believe I'll get to eat on my lunch hour, instead of frantically write!!

Sorry to hear about the toothache. :(

Sorry to hear about your toothache, Gary. While I am not in pain at the moment, I had a porcelain crown covering a root canal crack a few weeks back. I still need to get the crown replaced; part of the delay was because my insurance plan took forever to decide whether they were going pay to replace it. They aren't. (Surprise, surprise.) Fortunately, my dentist has decided not to charge me for the replacement crown; they're only going to charge me the $150 "lab fee" to cast the mold to create the new crown. Considering how the crown itself usually costs around $500, I figure this is a fair arrangement.

~flomps~ Whew. Words wrangled.

Sorry your tooth is bugging you, Gary. That is pretty awful. :/

My weekend was busy, but good. Lots of social stuff. That's kind of what the next few weekends look like, honestly. And the weekdays. I need an actual me-sized snailshell to go hide in.

o__o
Man, the tooth nightmares around here are making me want to get up and floss this instant. Hope everyone's mouths feel better and or stay better!

Weekend for me was a much needed quiet one. And now it's over. Not sure how that works. ;P I feel like it should definitely be longer than 2 days.
