Green Room - Week 20 - Day 1

It's the first morning of our Top 12! Congratulations for making it to this point. If there is "no rest for the wicked" though, that must mean that you don't even get to shut your eyes for a moment!

Because it's back to the salt mines!

Last night we had eliminations: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/923926.html

The new topics: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/924359.html

and the Grumbling Room: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/924662.html

Oh sorry, that last one is technically "The Work" room, but for the first night, that tends to be appropriate! It's part of a lot of people's writing process!

***

Idol's own puppetmaker40 wrote about a recent experience in a public restroom, that I think is important for people to read: http://puppetmaker40.livejournal.com/1093059.html

1. With topics like those I'm surprised the Work Room isn't more of a Grumble Room, tbh. If I were still playing I'd be protesting loud and clear!

2. You're evil but you already know that ;)

3. Yes, everybody please read and share puppetmaker40's post. One thing I've been thinking all along re the topic is how attitudes also affect those who aren't X but, because of how they look/dress, are now presumed to be X. Read it.

4. Made reservations for our anniversary getaway! It's only for a night. We're more worried about how The Boyz are going to react being in a kennel, though.

1. Again, personally I really like these ones. I literally saved them to the end because I thought they would be a lot of fun. "Creeping Meatballism" is something that I know a lot of people talk about, they just didn't know that phrase!

2. I definitely am. But - as a side note to #1, I happen to know what I *originally planned* for this week, and it was a whole lot more grumble-worthy than what ended up happening! ;) Which probably also colors my perception. I know what things *could* have been like, and have the luxury of saying "See, it's not THAT bad!" :D

3. Yep

4. Maybe the Boyz need to go on the trip and you can stay in the kennel instead! :D

"Creeping meatballism" is the well-known, but little understood, phenomenon of meatballs gradually leaving the plates of patrons at Italian restaurants and falling to the floor. Some scientists speculate that this lemming-like behavior is a biological imperative, probably a quest for freedom. The data is inconclusive, because no meatball has made it more than a few feet before being recaptured or squashed.

I'm actually in possession of that secret, but I refuse to share, as it will leave me with nothing to write for my Idol entry. :)

On top of spaghetti
All covered with cheese
I lost my poor meatball
When somebody sneezed.

It rolled off the table
And onto the floor
But then my poor meatball
Rolled right out the door.

It rolled down the sidewalk
And into the street
Alas my poor meatball
Is all [something something]* feet*

*I don't remember the very last line other than it used to make me giggle. I also would like to congratulate myself for remembering these lyrics from :cough: 50-something years ago :cough: when it was sung to me as a little kid never interested in eating

eternal_ot is joining the ranks as my assistant and is taking over some social media duties, starting with Twitter. So people might want to start following LJ Idol on Twitter, because things will soon be happening over there!

Poll watching was truly brutal this time around.

I, personally, LOVE the prompts!!! And a huge freakin' SHOUT OUT to whichever one of you submitted -

Immanentize the eschaton!

because DAMN. That used to be a call and respond favourite.

Hint: it was the same person who submitted "Creeping Meatballism". It's the first time that I've ever used two topic suggestions from the same person in Idol history. (that I can recall at least. :D)

I figured since I was coming around for a second turn at the topic list, I was in a position where I could make that happen!

Oy, clauderainsrm! None of my topics were used during the first topics run :( Not that the ones I submitted were all that interesting, considering I had no frame of reference for what Idol was like. Still a bit sad, though!

Wait - really?

I didn't see any left on the spreadsheet. I will go into the actual emails to make sure I received them. If not, could you send them again?

oh, Gary...
Where is the Green Room?

How are we supposed to make comments in the Green Room if there isn't one?
