Results - Week 19

Every time I thought I had come to peace with "who is leaving this week", something would change.

That's the danger of basing your sense of mental calm on something like an Idol poll in the last few hours before it's going to be closed. No matter what the eventual outcome, the voters are going to find a way to mess with you!

In the end though, they landed on a decision - a decision made by 4 votes. Which means it was less than 1 person voting for everyone in a given group.

The group that ended up being safe was Group 2. So congratulations to you.

As for the others, we are losing 2 contestants from Group 3:

We are also losing 1 contestant from Group 1:

That's a hell of a lot of talent to be cutting at once, but cut we must.

I hope that we will continue to see them in the Home Game (*cough* more songs please encrefloue) and of course around here, cheering on their personal favorites!

That poll was crazy tonight. And I think we all knew no matter which way it went we were going to lose someone(s) we really love to read.

Home Game! Home Game!

I checked in four or five times in the last hour and wow the end of the poll was nuts. This is the first time all season that the polls stressed me out. Now I feel like its LJI.

That said, I have loved entries from all three of the folks leaving this week. yachiru's Week 18 entry was one of my favorite all time LJI entries, encrefloue's music has made me extremely happy all season and fodschwazzle created this amazing piece among others. Very well played all of you. We'll all be eliminated save one but you can all be proud of the body of work you created this season. Great stuff.

Aw, thanks! The songs were definitely a blast to write and share.

This was an absolutely insane week. I'm super sorry to see you guys go. :(
Yachiru, your body of work always fascinates me. You write beautiful, strange, haunting things, and it'll suck not seeing your name posting first next week.
Fod, your brain comes up with the coolest ideas, and it's so great to see them come to life through words.
Encrefloue, you had me ever since you made the song about that penny. You had me right then.

Flattered that it stuck with you! Thanks :)

I have come to realize that at this point every cut hurts. I am so sorry to say goodbye to encrefloue, yachiru, and fodschwazzle, but I am hoping it's only so long, and not goodbye after all.
Apr. 26th, 2016 08:48 pm (UTC)
I doubt it will be goodbye! Hopefully I can be a part of the next season, too :)
Apr. 26th, 2016 09:14 pm (UTC)
And home game! 😃

So sorry to see them all go but especially my former trammate encrefloue, the last surviving member of the Geek Squad.
Apr. 26th, 2016 08:50 pm (UTC)
And what a ride it was on that tram! I'm still quite proud of that errant group of writers that formed the Geek Squad.

Me, too! What a tram! ;)

I look forward to yachiru's entries every week. I will miss your unique voice and your dreamscapes, and I wish you the best with your novella!

fodschwazzle's entries are ALWAYS entertaining! You bring such a breath of fresh monster air to your pieces!

I have truly enjoyed encrefloue sharing such beautiful music!

It was a difficult poll.

Thank you! It was great to have an outlet for the songs.

This was just painful. All I can say is that this is one of the most solidly talented groups of people I've seen yet at this point in the game. Just incredible.

encrefloue, you've written some amazing poems this round, consistently so much better than we usually see in Idol. And your Ballad of Buck and Penny was such a delight.

Like prog_schlock, this was my favorite fodschwazzle entry (god, so fabulous), though a close second was the non-fiction entry on being married to someone who didn't like or want children, and the sorrow that entailed.

And yachiru amazes me every week with the variety of ideas and settings. My favorite story of this season is hidden now (I hope that means it's being submitted--it was SO good) and was the one about the garbage collector. But One Hundred Robins was a close second. Such depth of ideas and such mesmerizing execution!

I hope all of you will home game. :)

I really appreciate this comment; thank you! I know that in comparison, the songs I submitted were a lot flashier and more immediately appealing than my other entries, but in the end the bulk of my work was poems. I'm very proud to have had the chance to share so many, especially in spite of the whispers and advice I heard that stated how averse to poetry the Idol scene could be.

I am honored. That piece was hella fun to write.

It was hella fun to "play," too. Kind of an experience of, "Wait, I regret not picking the weirdest choice. Oh heck, let's just go back and see ALL the choices!" :D

It's been a wild ride! I'm quite happy to have gotten this far. Thanks to all of you for giving this Idol newbie's entries your consideration and support!

Aww man now I gotta go back to writing more werewolf romance for profit. :( I've submitted a lot of my idol stories to other places so this was a great season for me!
