Green Room - Week 19 - Day 7

The poll is closing tonight. In less time than it will take Tyrion Lannister to ferret out the Sons of the Harpy from Meereen, we will be losing 3 more contestants!

It's up to you - dear readers and voters in the battle for who will claim the throne of LJ Idol - to decide who will get one step closer, and who will end up a head shorter!

***

You know what they say: "When you play the game of Friends and Rivals, you either win or you die!"

(or something like that)

What do you plan on doing?

(and what did you do this weekend? Did you win more than you died? Or died a little more than you won?)

Jesus. Please don't anybody start spoiling GoT in here. I have to figure out how I can watch it.

Seriously. Don't.

First.

No GoT here but we've been binge watching Broadchurch -- OMG, why are there only 2 seasons of it?!?

I'm on vacation this week and it's also our anniversary week. Right now we're trying to finagle a last-minute reservation for both humans and canines. Waiting for responses is nerve wracking :erk:

I've still only seen the first season of Broadchurch. I need to watch the second.

We binge-watched Broadchurch, too. I will be curious to hear your thoughts. I did enjoy Tennant. There is a veritable smorgasbord of UK/EU detective series out there. Anything else you've enjoyed?

Good luck on the reservations!

I could probably look this up - but I'll just throw it out here instead:

What's the deal with "Lemonade"?

I saw the last few minutes while waiting for Game of Thrones? I've seen a lot of folks talking about it though as if it was something exciting and/or revolutionary. I must have missed those parts... is it worth watching or should I just chalk it up as "something other people enjoy but I'm not really the target audience for it anyway"?

What I gathered from this morning: It's a "visual album" similar to what she did a couple of years ago except that because she appears in a wedding dress and talks about infidelity, people are surmising she and Jay-Z are on the rocks IRL. On a greater level the "album" is about relationships and making the best of them, aka the "making lemonade from lemons".

Okay then  Evidently I'm not in the demographic either.

I've been on quite a few long-haul flights in the past few months, which is where I discover and binge on TV :) Nothing like a 9-hour flight to get through 11 episodes!

Just watched UnReal, which Gary I think you might like - it's about a Bachelorette-style reality show, from backstage. Great acting and fascinating to watch the production team making choices that "make great TV" but may or may not destroy the contestants' lives.

Also got into Blindspot, which is pretty thin but interesting nonetheless, about a woman found with amnesia and covered in tattoos that turn out to contain clues to various big national intelligence issues.

We watch Blindspot occasionally. For some reason I can't get into it as much as I've gotten into other shows, though. UnReal sounds interesting, tbh.

We visited my husband's family on Saturday, which took up the entire day. So, Sunday was bicycling, an errand, yard work ad infinitum (god, the snail problem is epic, and the situation with the cherry tree has totally robbed me of my "Live and let live" attitude), and then... feeling dissatisfied about all that did NOT get done.

So, in total... \o?

Saturday was our friend Nathan's birthday, and so I spent all day cooking because we were having people over for dinner.

Sunday, my boyfriend invited over our friend for dinner, so I spent all evening cooking.

We're having takeout tonight. :P

My big thing this weekend was learning that I hold my shoulders completely wrong and it limits my movement. Now that I've learned how to hold them properly, I will soon look like The Mountain. Beware, princes of Dorne!

...and in completely different news, reservations have been made!

Unfortunately my replacement windshield needs replacing. No sooner than the tech left and I got into the car and there was a huge scratch almost all the way down the driver's side. Called the tech, he returned, tried to fill it in, and no go. He apologized profusely.

I'm not angry as I am "Seriously?!?"

Lazy weekend. (So, yard work and gardening and two 5K jaunts and some culinary experimentation and work-for-work and work-for-fun and manuscript editing. Mostly, sort of shambled around the house like a zombie. Which I realize is the wrong show altogether. But valar morghulis, and sometimes life happens, and sometimes not in that order?)

As always, impressed with the quality of the entries this week!
