Green Room - Week 11 - Day 7

For you, it's the last day to get in your vote! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/900783.html So, if you are a current contestant, make sure to send in your votes to clauderainsrm@gmail.com

For me, it's the next stage of dental work.

For the first time ever, I wish I was you! ;)

Unless of course, you have something worse than dental work on your plate today. In which case, I'm back to being glad that I'm not you!

(and as always - thanks for the pain you are putting me through! This mini-season contributed to the total of what I was able to put together to get this bridge. Stage two, that will be today, is prepping for the actual bridge to be put in!)

Also of significance, it's LEAP DAY! So Happy Leap Day! What are you doing to do with this "extra day" of the year?

Taxes. So, nowhere near as much pain, but it has been like pulling teeth just getting the paperwork together.

*ba-dum tcccchhh*

Also, while I did the reading and voting over the weekend, I'm going to go back and start commenting on entries. There was a lot of great stuff this week ...but given this crowd, that's really not a surprise.

I don't acknowledge this as February 29. I prefer to think of it as "March 0."

ETA: frist Zreoth.

Good luck on the dental work! May your anesthetics be quick and lasting!

You've already used up all three of your wishes, Gary, so you can't be me. Sorry. On the other hand, I really need to see a dentist myself, so even if you had a wish left it would have "gone wrong"...

In all seriousness, though: While I am no fan of dentists, I recognize they are necessary sometimes, and although going under the drill is unpleasant I know from personal experience that not getting critical dental work done can be far, *FAR* worse.

I hope the procedure goes as quickly and painlessly as possible for you, Gary.

I will use my leap day to... struggle with food poisoning! Ugh. Teaching classes at the same time does give me that necessary bit of severity I need to be a better teacher, though.

That's roooooooooooough.

For future reference, the only thing I've ever found that helps it (though it's super-gross): mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar into a glass of warm water, pretend you're 21 again and shotgun that sonofabitch. You have to do it fast so the acid hits you fast, otherwise you just barf it up—but something about increasing the acidity helps with the symptoms and calms your stomach.

Works for me, and my mom swears by it. I hesitate to recommend it because drinking vinegar water bletch, but, you know.

Happy leap day!

I'm finally able to actually sit up without falling over from fever and dizziness.

Hopefully that means I will finish up the last of my reading in between students. I have four left to go, and turn in my votes.

Oh, noooooooo! The flu has gone on this long? :(

Well, at least it seems to be on its way out.

I'm going to pop out of the woodwork and ask everyone what they enjoyed this week! For me, even after I finished reading/voting Friday, it's got to be ellakite's piece. If you haven't read it yet, you owe it to yourself to do so.

What's everyone else into? :)

I agree about ellakite's piece! It was great! I also enjoyed witchwife's, and the_lettersea's and mac_arthur_park's. Well, plus a bunch others, but those are the ones that floated to the top of my brain right at this moment. :)

Miserable as the dental work is, I'm glad the donations worked out for you.

Wedding next? Now that you have a job again? (I think)

Wishing you all the best with your dental procedure today, Gary. Hope all goes smoothly and with very little pain.

I didn't know leap day was a thing. To people born on the 29th yes, to others...why? 😊
Feb. 29th, 2016 08:30 pm (UTC)
There shouldn't be too much pain today? Eh? You know....ativan goes a long way towards making the hell of it all bearable. Jes' sayin'. I'm glad you've got the cash you need, G!

Leap year is just the bestest! My contractor buddy just showed up, playing hooky from his day job with the school district and I said "why are you here??" and he replied "I ALWAYS take off Leap Year Day!"

I'm up-to-date with all of the ballots I've received.

If you have not received a confirmation email, let me know.

There are still quite a few outstanding, so I expect it will be a busy evening.

There are quite a few currently "in the danger zone', so I expect that the votes over the next couple of hours are going to make a big difference.

They put in two temp crowns for the anchor teeth until the permanent bridge comes in.

When I got home, hours after (was told to wait 1/2 hour before eating) I grabbed *a piece of sliced cheese*- one of my temp crowns came off!

This was after explaining to the tech a couple of times that I've had problems in the past and they needed to use the strongest cement that they had! (my usual tech was working in another room, but kept coming over to check on me)

As a dyslexic, let me just say that the number of entries this week featuring gods and dogs has left me thoroughly mixed up.

Hahaha! There was a little bit of both, wasn't there?

I have discovered that my work pattern is apparently 'work two days really hard and fuck off on day three.'

(No, autocorrect, I have never meant to type 'duck off.' Ever.)

So today was a 5am-6pm with a snack break around 10 and lunch at 12:30. I've stopped for dinner and want to do two more hours before bed. Tomorrow the plan is the same and then Wednesday I'm going to do dick-all. (Well, class and an editorial meeting, but the morning and evening will be leisurely!)

It's feeling good, and I got good class feedback on an essay today that boils down to 'start it here instead and rearrange the whole rest of it and it might work.' Which is 100% better than how it is now.

So as long as I can keep corralling my Bejewled addiction, leap day is for me!
Mar. 1st, 2016 01:00 am (UTC)
Oh man, so, I read everything and voted, but I barely commented on anything. There's just not enough hours in the day to leave comments with deeper thoughts that "nice work." While I very much appreciate "nice work" comments, I always feel like I want to offer more. Bah. I keep track of who I visit and, should I survive another week, I will make a point to comment in as many places as I can that I didn't comment this week.

Goes to put on hair shirt and flog self

Once it's in it's better. Though you have my support and sympathies; Dental work sucks!
