Green Room - Week 7 - Day 7

Good afternoon from Iowa!

Today I am casting the "Super Vote" for both the Democratic and Republican caucuses and single-handedly deciding who will win the state's electoral votes!

They fly me out every four years to make this decision, and it's one I take really seriously.

Either that or I'm at home after a morning dental appointment. Whichever sounds more interesting to you.

Don't take long to decide though, because you have far more important decisions to be making - such as "Who will get your support" this week in the polls: We are starting the month with extremely high stakes: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/888626.html so tell your friends and neighbors to come out and caucus for your favorites!

Whoo, I am! Monday morning at 10:15, and I'm already dead-- at least to ellakite.

I've finished all the team reading, so I have just the rivals left. Progress!

you know you're dead to ellakite now, right? ;)

Yes, she knows it.

And obviously, you know it.

Perhaps even more obviously, I know it.

Hell, it is quite likely that The American People know it.

i will not speculate on whether or not the world at large knows it yet; it takes a while for the international press to disseminate such information...

Yes, though I've been dead to him before, so maybe I'm UNdead now.

Ah, your icon. I'll sure miss those two. :)

Well there are advantages to being dead -- people expect less from you, so you have more free time to work on your own personal projects.

And as for being dead to *ME* (which you most certainly are), everybody pretty much knows about the whole "free access to cookies" aspect of being a fully-fledged member of the Dead To Ellakite Society...

It's the cookies that make being dead worthwhile!
Feb. 1st, 2016 07:54 pm (UTC)
Cookies are pretty much the best part of anything (as Cookie Monster can attest)! Well, as long as they contain chocolate. Though I've developed a recent weakness for windmill cookies, despite usually thinking, "These could use twice the cinnamon, at least!"

Lowered expectations are always a relief, too. Now I've got the "Lowered Expec-tay-ay-shuns" jingle in my head from Mad TV. :D

I finished reading all the posts last night. I'm like, two days early.

I finished reading Sunday morning, and then promptly said "I'll finish commenting later" and um... I need to get back to that.

Do you get a cape, for being the Super Voter? A mask? Tights? Pics or it didn't happen. ;)

(Hope the dental appointment wasn't too terrible.)

This massacre thing is nerve wracking.

Here are some quick recommendations!
- thistle_verse blew my socks off this week (again). Seriously great stuff.
- fodschwazzle put the spoiler tag to really good use and wrote a really creative and interactive entry this week.
- I really enjoyed barrelofrain's poem this week, and I hope you will too.

I've been really excited to see fodschwazzle's piece get so much love—it's fantastic! TEAM SPATULA FOREVER. :)
Feb. 1st, 2016 08:15 pm (UTC)
We shall clack our spatulas together in a salute of solidarity!

The clack of solidarity!

I'm kind of mystified as to how anyone gets their entire deposit back in the game, to be honest. o.o

By the way...
Gary, I know it may not be as fun for you that we aren't generating the kind of massive comment threads of seasons past, and I wanted to reassure you that you have still done a great job creating community. Team Avocado is exchanging probably 50 emails a week, and I'm loving the small group aspect of immediate and forthright feedback both to and from people who know feedback is welcome.

So thanks.

Re: By the way...
*nods* Yes! The community feeling is definitely different, but it's totally THERE. It's really interesting to me how the team dynamic changes things.

Re: By the way...
I agree with this. A lot of the community is happening in the comment sections of the entries.

I'm having a challenge keeping up with real life, reading and commenting on the entries, writing my entry and still coming over here to participate in discussions. Indeed, I'm taking a quick lunch break right now as I make this comment here. :D

Re: By the way...
Speaking of community happening in the comments section, you've done a great job this season fostering conversation in your comments! Even though I haven't participated much (natural lurker plus limited time, aaaaargh), I have really enjoyed reading along there, and I appreciate that you're actively inviting people in and giving them hooks for talking to each other. Thank you for that!

Re: By the way...
Well thank you - its sort of primarily because I have no filter, even when I'm commenting. I was commenting late last night and rereading some of it this morning, I wish I'd waited until I'd gotten more sleep. I might have done more fostering confusion than community. :D

Ack, I've been nursing a woo dog with a sore shoulder all afternoon. Have no idea how it happened. We started to go for a walk, and he (Max) suddenly collapsed at the end of the driveway. Unfortunately our vet had already left the office when this happened. Her assistant told us to give him buffered aspirin and keep and eye on it tonight. If he's the same tomorrow, bring him in.

My poor Max :(
Feb. 1st, 2016 11:40 pm (UTC)
Oh no! I hope Max feels better soon! :(
Feb. 2nd, 2016 12:09 pm (UTC)
He's going to the vet this morning. He refuses to move. I'm trying not to show I'm worried but I'm worried :(

I'm waiting for April when I can make $300 just to tell people where to go to vote.

With ten minutes left, let me send some love to majesticarky excellent recap of the career of Simon and Garfunkle and to my teammate inteus_mika's life story as told vis a vis "The Boxer."

Two very good entries that aren't getting as much love as I think they should,
