and threats. Don't forget the threats!!

Technically they were "friendly warnings". Because "friendly warnings" sound nice. Everyone loves "friendly warnings"!

Raise your hand if you like "friendly warnings"!!

Raise both hands if you suspect that this could be a stick-up!!

Gary, I don't "suspect" this is a stick-up.

I *KNOW* it's a stick-up!

I like to think they're not so much "threats" as "pain opportunities you haven't met yet."

I raise 2 hands when it's time to ride Space Mountain!

I wouldn't. That track above you is awfully close.

Not a problem for us short folks : ) AW

The university I'm a grad student at sends out "Timely warnings"—that was more how your missive struck me. ;)
Jan. 26th, 2016 09:38 pm (UTC)
I like a timely warning far less from my university than I like it here. There is great fear in that.
Jan. 27th, 2016 12:59 am (UTC)
The "timely warnings" here are usually pretty innocent. "Someone didn't lock their doors and came home to find some drunk person in their apartment" kind of thing. Reminders to lock your doors/lock your car, not so much other "timely warnings", thank God.

How do other Teams communicate with each other? Special LJs? E-mails? Shouting from cubicle to cubicle?
Jan. 26th, 2016 11:03 pm (UTC)
Our team mads first contact over LJ messaging and yhen shared emails.
Jan. 27th, 2016 06:34 am (UTC)
Thank you!

Massive, massive email chains. We tend to be chatty, and toss ideas and drafts and all kinds of things at each other fairly frequently via email.

Thank you!

Threats and friendly warnings and stick-ups all sound likely and even enjoyable, in the context of the game. Just don't rob me of too much time, Gary. That's a super limited resource, all over I fear.

Glancing over my sheet, it appears that we have 63 contestants left - with 22 of them out of byes!

The road to the Top 30 could happen far more quickly than anyone anticipates, with one "bad week".
Jan. 27th, 2016 05:29 am (UTC)
I predict somehow this will be my last week only cause I'll get voted out cause I have no clue how to get into a team.

Also I'm writing fiction and I started so I won't stop. Those are my rules.

People tend to get confused when I write fiction cause it's usually really weird and comes from no planning. I just start writing and then stop then start up again.

Would you like to join us? i.e. alexpgp , adoptedwriter and myself.
Jan. 29th, 2016 05:20 am (UTC)
I don't think I'd be oft put to the idea or lacking from fellow team members.

Especially with this insanity I'm slowly writing for this weeks entry that people will either love or completely not enjoy. Or both?

So yay team...

Team A.C.R.O.N.Y.M? right?
Jan. 29th, 2016 06:46 am (UTC)
I am not sure whether adoptedwriter checked this out and if it was within the deadline quoted by Gary. Pls get in touch with her. And if not this time we can sure team up next week..:)
Well..er..the team name has been finalised to be : Gossamer Steamroller..:)
Best wishes. Looking forward to your fictional entry this week..

Message sent and sent.

It's in the hands of the cookies now.

Also please tell me that name has something to do with Mannheim Steamroller (and not his/their Christmas stuff).
Jan. 29th, 2016 10:51 am (UTC)
The best person to answer this is alexpgp

Thank you for the vote of confidence, eternal_ot!

On the origin of the team name, take your pick:

(a) I wanted a name that suggested an unstoppable force, a ruggedly masculine noun—most assuredly yang in nature—easily associated with the idea of "Look on our posts, ye Others, and despair!" The word "steamroller" came easily to mind. Alas, apart from the word itself, there is no relation to the group Mannheim Steamroller.

Then, to provide a balancing yin component to the name, I selected "gossamer" as an adjective, suggestive of something fine and delicate, yet incredibly strong—and decidedly feminine.

(b) It was the first thing to pop into my head upon awakening with a hangover from having drunk too much homebrew applejack—well, actually, a bowdlerized version of the same.

So hey, gang! Are we a team, or what?

Jan. 29th, 2016 01:40 pm (UTC)
I like the expl(a)nation..SuperCool! :) *Hi-Five* to the team! Yippie!!
Jan. 29th, 2016 10:48 am (UTC)
