For those who don't know - I started a new job a couple weeks ago. Which is fantastic news, in general.

Specifically for Idol though, it means that the new mini season won't be starting in September. I'm looking at Late October because I want to see what my schedule is actually going to look like before putting more work on top of it. ;)

I know some of you are saying "That soon???" but I also know there are some anxious to get back to it and wanted to make sure everyone was kept up to date.

How have YOU been doing?

Congratulations on the new job! I'm looking forward to the mini-season, and thank you for all the time and energy you devote to LJ Idol.

I'm looking forward to getting back to my *real* job!! I still need to write the FAQ though - and figure out how to make the new design happen. (Although I did find a "template" that might work. :D)

And then there's the teeny minority who thought they'd completely missed their last opportunity to participate and are thrilled to learn they have not.

It was supposed to have ended, but then I decided that I was still having too much fun to let the past-me spoil it. :)

We'll see what shape the future takes as we get there.

First of all congrats to you Gary on the new job. (Why am I being nice to you? Must have caught me at a weak moment!) hahaha. This is exciting. I need a kick to get back to writing and posting here! Can't wait for the new season to start!

I've been doing real good. I probably won't be able to play the next mini-season, as I'm up to my ears in improv commitments. Living in the San Francisco Bay Area has done wonders for my life, but it's taken me to a point where I don't actually like being on the computer much, except where necessary :O

Hopefully, by the time we start, we can lure you back to bash yourself against these creative rocks!

I've been making hoops and taking names! To put on my mailing list! So I can pretend I'm an actual responsible business person!

You making hoops - awesome

You as a responsible business person - bwahaahahahaha! ;)

I no longer work 3rd shift and instead have sold my soul moved on to working at a bank as a teller and life has smoothed out considerably, as a result.

Still writing. Don't know how to stop at this point. I'm like...10k within the end of the first book of my trilogy and I just need to sit down and focus and GET IT DONE. I am so ready to move on omg.

Yay and well done for new job! How's it going?

I'm in the camp of simultaneous "That soon??" and "Very very excited to get back to it"
Sep. 25th, 2015 06:30 pm (UTC)
Pretty well so far. It's been slow the last couple of days. Which would be "good for Idol", but honestly, from everything I hear - when it's slow that just means it's about to get crazy!

Heh, I know the feeling.

Life has been pretty fab! I found out Tuesday that my boss thinks I'm aces, the startup is doing well, and I will be done with my PhD by August of 2016. So, you know, I'll have it before I'm 30, and there's a really good chance that I have a job lined up already, in my same area, so I won't have to move.

And I'm still writing. :)

PhD before 30? Slacker.

(Seriously, all of that sounds awesome - I'm biased, but my favorite parts are that you are "so in" and that you are still writing. Never stop that.)

My everything pretty much remains the same. I keep pushing the button at work for more food pellets, but so far they seem to meter them out really slowly. I know the machine works faster because I keep seeing others with more food pellets.

I look forward to more Idol. I have a ton of writing ideas, but no motivation to get them out of my head and onto a page.

Meanwhile, my 365 photos in 365 days project is proceeding and we're currently up to 268 of them...
Sep. 25th, 2015 06:33 pm (UTC)
If you mash down the button and hold it there, the machine malfunctions and all of the pellets come out at once!!

I'm happy for you and the new job. Makes sense to see how everything plays out. I'm so busy w my mom's care. October is better for me as well. The later the better!
More to look forward to as we head toward colder months.

I'd planned all along to do the mini-season, and I still want to. Recent health developments might keep me out of the game, though. Sigh.

But then again, late October is just far enough in the future that I might have a clearer idea by then what I can and cannot do. Here's hoping!

Congrats on the job!

Congratulation on the job! I think you should wait until after the first time "things go crazy" with the mini-season. To know just how crazy is crazy :)

Looking forward to it: I have written more for Idol than I ever thought I could, because I almost never feel the need to write, or to write to the best of my abilities at least and Idol helps.
Sep. 26th, 2015 06:41 pm (UTC)
Yeah, that's a good point. Honestly, I don't know how much time I'm going to have "during the day" at this job anyway. I picture *a lot* of lunch time being "catching up to whatever hijinx is going on at Idol".

I'm glad that it helps. You should definitely be writing more.
Sep. 26th, 2015 08:55 pm (UTC)
Congrats on your new gainful employment!

What have I been doing? I've been gearing up for this year's NaNo which means I'll be sitting out the mini-season. My characters that showed up last season are very demanding of my attention and I don't want to risk coming up with another set until these folks are dealt with.

Either that or the voices in my head are getting louder.
