Green Room - Week 43 - Day 5

The final poll is happening now: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/850328.html

There is an early lead. But this is Idol. Maybe it will expand. Maybe it will shift. Honestly, I have no idea. I just want to make sure that no one looks and thinks "Well, my vote doesn't matter!" Because it always does.

People have been asking what my plans are during the off-season. This of course implies that I *have* an off-season. :)

A good part of my time is probably going to be spent getting ready for the mini-season.

Well, that and finding a new job. A lot of the timing of the mini-season is going to revolve around what I find, when, and the details of that job. (when I need to be into work/when I get home) I'll want to stabilize as much as possible before adding an element as chaotic as Idol!

For the mini-season, keep in mind that I have a 2 for 1 thing on the Patreon page. :) You get an automatic spot in any mini-seasons that occur while you are a patron, plus an extra one for a friend. (as opposed to waiting for the sign up sheet and hoping to get there before I close it out)

I may take a week or two off though. But I doubt my brain will let me rest much longer than that!

***

What about YOU? What are your plans?

My plan is to wait eagerly for the mini-season!

Novels. Because it'll give me something to do until the mini-season. ;-) And, presumably, will curtail that urge I have to do serialized short stories / vignettes.

There's NaNoWriMo and Camp Nano (or whatever it is)... aren't you on a twice-a-year schedule now to push through on this? My brain is tired just thinking about that!

Sort of. If I used NaNo for stuff this far along, I think it's up to 3 times a year now. But the current book is at 67,000 words and climbing, so it's sort of grown beyond what I can get out of NaNo (which is more info-dump style "zero" draft content).

Mind, I'm sure i'll use the next available NaNo to kick off the next book, but I'm trying to be good and finish one before starting yet another.

Then there's sending out more queries for the two books that are already done. :-) First pass didn't do much, so refining and trying again.

Other than writing all the stories that have suddenly queued up to be put on paper (or the electronic equivalent), I will be joining your crusade to kick hippies. For, you see, I have finished The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test which is a fine piece of journalism in that it captures the essence of why hippies were so freakin' annoying. It's because they were high all the time.

In the meantime, all you kids need to get off my lawn!

as long as they don't show up on *my* lawn!

We need to build larger fences to keep them out!

That's a GREAT idea for patrons! I hope those folks who can, come out and support you with the ducats. It makes a difference!

I am going to format my novel and start another one. Staying with one story and one set of characters for a while sounds a bit like a vacation! ;)

Get settled soon, G!

That lead will not last the morning, and I wouldn't have expected it to!

When this is all over? I'm gonna relax and do baby things. :)

It has to be hard balancing the final stretch of Idol with a new baby! I don't really know how you've managed.

I think it's honestly easier now than it would be if he were a few months older. He sleeps a LOT right now, and he's not looking for entertainment. The only pitfall is when he wakes up - or stays awake - at a time I expected him to be sleeping. He woke up an hour before the deadline yesterday - despite having just eaten and gone to sleep. About half of my spiel didn't get written because I ran out of time.

Hoo, boy. Our first baby did not really nap, and she woke up every three hours to eat (for an hour and a half, after which it took me 1 1/2 hours to go back to sleep, just about when she'd wake up again). I was so sleep-deprived with her that I became psycho pretty darn fast. The second was easier and a actually somewhat self-entertaining, but by then there were two of them...

Owen is pretty easy. It typically takes half an hour to feed him and get him back down IF he's going to nap. Unfortunately, it's usually 1 or 2 in the morning when he decides he's up for awhile. The other night he was awake from 1:00-4:30 and then up again 40 minutes later. *yawns*

Try to write all my avengers + Loki fics before age of ultron comes along and changes canon. I have a month. I will do this.

Also will probably go back and forth between being excited about team Idol and being worried no one will want to be on a team with me. This is just like school all over again.

People will want to be on a team with you. Tell all those monsters to stay under the bed, dearest.

Avenger!Fics!!! I'm so out of the fandom loops....

Thanks, I'll tell them ;).

I think I'm pretty much out of the fandom loop too. It's hard to be in the fandom loop with Avengers, it's a pretty insane fandom. I just read and write.

I have no real plans right now, just sort of semi-planning our annual anniversary road trip for early May - we will be heading out westerly this year, to Yellowstone and Denver, Salt Lake City, Deadwood, etc. It will be a two-week long blast of driving and sightseeing. Whee!

My plan is to Home Game an entry detailing, in irrefutable terms, why you should vote for me in defiance of all reason or even literal capability! :D
