Green Room - Week 41 - Day 3

Greetings from Spring Break, and the relaxation that I have been needing with all of the stress going on right now.

You on the other hand still have quite a bit of stress happening. You have a deadline!

http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/846266.html

I know that there have also been a few people asking if they can still submit entries for the walkertxkitty tribute. Of course you can! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/845386.html In fact, I'd encourage that people do so.

***

In other news, my friend Kristin, from the Survivor group that I am on, won her first round of Jeopardy last night (Wednesday). This means that you have the chance to cheer her on tonight as well!

Granted, the episodes were filmed a couple months ago, but it's still pretty exciting, since she hasn't been able to talk about it until the episodes air!

***

I hope that your 24-hours have been even a fraction as good as mine have been.

My 24 hours have been pretty good. Had lunch with hubby at a new place called The Cheezy Mac, got some good news at work in that myself and my coworker who will be doing the majority of timesheets were finally taken off the rotation for front desk duty. Had a "free" dinner at Joseph Beth Bookseller's cafe thanks to a gift card (I only laid out cash for the tip), and am now catching up on Survivor before heading off to bed.

All in all not a bad evening.

Also - First!

Read a really great book yesterday - I'll Give You the Sun, by Jandy Nelson. I'm pretty sure it's a YA novel, which isn't usually my thing, but the writing is great. Good characters. A nifty use of change of perspective and time. A unique look into the mind of an artist. Lots and lots of feels. I laughed and cried and felt moments of actual joy. Recommended.

That sounds good! I'll put it on my to-read pile. I hope to be making progress in that stack soon... I've still got Mr. Penumbra's 24-hour bookstore in there, and I think it's been um... way too long since you recommended that to me (though it's near the top of the stack, at least). I've only actually finished one fiction book this year so far. It's a bit shameful. I've been overloading on the short stories.

This one is better than that one.

Congrats on a good 24 hours! That's excellent. Mine have been kind of meh, but not too bad. I have to say I am loving this topic. My day today is so packed I had to buckle down and work on it last night. I am apologizing in advance for certain subject matter.

I've tried not to whine about any of the topics and most of them I loved or learned to love....but this one has been difficult for me. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the subject matter....it's a peach. (Not sure you are familiar with this....anatomy joke.)

It was definitely difficult--something just clicked for me finally reading the wikipedia entry and it ended up being fun. I laughed so hard at the peach XD

My 24 hours were weird, but mostly not bad. Just weird. I'm glad you had good ones, Gary!

In definite bad news, Sir Terry Pratchett died. I'm super sad about this. The last few tweets on his twitter stream made me smile in a melancholy kind of way, though. That, and all the nice memories people are posting of him, and how his books impacted their lives.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Alzheimer's can go [extremely vile string of profanities that would melt the internet deleted] itself.

Aw sweetie. Am sorry. I understand the sentiment with MIL's dementia. Here, have a ::hug::

It's a terrible day for literature. So sad.

The tweets were inspired. And terrible and perfect.

Oh Jeez... I just realized ryl was speaking of Sir Terry Pratchett. I agree is a sad day indeed.

Hey, I'll take hugs where I can get them. In a weird coinkydink Pterry announced his diagnosis right after my mom died of Alzheimer's. When he also announced he was planning suicide when it got too bad, I nodded in agreement for a long time. I fully support a bullet in the chamber for that sort of situation. It's better than the alternative.

   My husband has his own brand of MS dementia, as well. I can understand suicide. I'd prefer some pretty righteous, get me high drugs, first, then knock me into a coma where I peacefully drift away. Alicia has orders to plant me as a tree. :)

Is there a place for home game entries this week?

Feel free to link it here, or once the poll goes up tonight, put it in the comments there. Lots of people will be refreshing and stressing over that page, so it's sure to get a few eyes. :)
