Green Room - Week 32 - Day 4

Today is the last day of the Marriage Ban in Florida!

Granted, there are going to be "hold out" counties who are going to drag their feet and declare that they are "unable to hold marriages due to budgetary issues", but they will still be issuing the licenses.

On one hand, it's amazing that this has been as big of an issue as it has been in the United States for so long... on the other, I've seen such an incredible shift in people's feelings in my lifetime that it's like I'm staring at a different planet!

Congratulations to my home state for finally getting it right, even if you had to be forced by the court to do it...

A few generations from now, people are going to look back at all of this - and I hope that they laugh at "how silly people were" rather than be disgusted.

One thing that people will look back on with AWE is your entries for this week: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/820156.html

(how's THAT transition???)

if you are still having some issues you want to hammer out, take them to the Work Room: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/820280.html

and of course the Home Game/Killing Floor http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/820882.html

What, of interest, is going on in YOUR home state/country?

Good morning and Happy New Year to all in the Green Room.

Here's a link that writerly folk might find useful about setting goals and scheduling time for writing.

Hell, I've seen a shift in acceptance of gay marriage in the lifetime of kids who are still only in elementary school ....

Dude either needs to get off the recreational drugs, or start medicating his pyschosis. Damn. :O

If there a specific time frame to that? (X-number of years has to have passed/kids have to be a certain age)

Is it something that the birth-mother had to opt-in for?

(I don't know much on the subject, but I know it's something you know a lot about, so I figured I'd ask! :D)

Ohio had records sealed in 1964. I got super lucky by being " old". LOL. Activists recently got the state to open records on March 20, 2015 for anyone 21 and up. There is a waiver for birth parents if they do not want to be found. (Most do, based on research). AW

My home state (which is not the one I currently live in) is gearing up for the Ducks to play in the BCS bowl next Monday! Go Ducks!

In California, meanwhile, we are enacting new laws (some of them strange) and the less said about that, the better...

Also, according to my records, it is whipchick's birthday today!

Many happy returns to Allison! \o/

Writing after a break is sometimes like wandering up to a strange crank in the middle of the desert and just turning it. You have no idea what's going to come out - more sand? Water? Pixie dust? Smoke? - or even where the spout is, but here's this crank, and by god you're going to turn it. Maybe it'll raise strange ruins from beneath the dunes. Could be anything.

I'm cranky today.

I'm also really happy that Florida is finally getting with the times. :) I never know if I should call Florida my "home" state or not - I mean, it was where I was born, and I have family and friends there, but I haven't lived there in gosh ages. Wisconsin feels like home now. I mean, sort of. Mostly it feels like ARGHWHYISITSOCOLDARGH. (Seriously. It feels like -8 right now, and um... yeah, that's a bit low).
