Green Room - Week 30 - Day 3

I saw a post last night that had the usual political nonsense about someone they didn't like with the question attached "Is this true?"

(1) It was something completely ridiculous. So, no, probably not true and you could probably reason that out for yourself

and

(2) Why not look it up for yourself?

If you stop and go "Man, that's messed up!" for long enough to want to post a meme making a outlandish claim - why not take the time to actually find out more details! Maybe it *is* true, and then you could use the source material to shut down the arguments of your disbelieving friends.

Now, I would say that this is a call for rational thought process, or doing your research.

But that's not what's on my mind today. My thoughts have turned to What outlandish stories can you make up about your fellow competitors!! What have they been doing that the world needs to know about? ;)

***

One thing I know they haven't been doing is "submitting their entries". But fortunately, they have until Monday! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/811500.html

There is also the Home Game/Killing Floor (The Killing Game?) http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/811580.html

and a Work Room: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/811782.html if you still need to figure things out!

I should eat something, but there's a small child in my lap right now.

Work today was awful mixed with actually feeling like I'm part of a team (which happens infrequently, sigh) and seeing my favorite regular customer (I really wish he was single, sigh).

Oh, and a free white hot chocolate because a customer didn't actually want it and we had to spoil/sample it out and it was delicious. :3

Over Thanksgiving with family my niece decided that my lap was the place to be for most of the day. At some point I needed to set her down to go and use the bathroom and she started to tear up a bit because I was leaving. Which is super sweet but dear lord I needed to pee!

Which is to say, I better understand your first sentence, and I am in awe of all parents.

Second? I posted to the Killing Floor, still debating on my regular post...

Hubby and I are going out to a Brazilian Churrascaria steakhouse for dinner tonight with two friends who (despite living in town) we don't see very often. So I'm looking forward to that!

Did you know that kickthehobbit has been brought up on charges for fashion crimes against lizards? It's true! (The charges were dropped, but STILL.)

And roina_arwen once had a public meltdown at a pun-off. I read it on the internet (just now) so it must have some veracity.

And the_lettersea is working on a prototype RoboDeathShark for his day job. That guy... you really gotta watch out for him. That's why he's so reluctant to talk about his so-called 'real life'. He doesn't want us to find his hidden lair and stop him!

There's more, especially about crackpotpie, but I don't know if y'all can handle the truth.

In real (? oh, but what is reality! Now, now is the time for navel gazing and procrastination) news, I am working on a story. It is going slowly. I am also still dithering over what to post where. I think I know which of my older pieces I will deem "favorite" but the thought of bucking the trend and posting the new thing in the killing floor is really tempting right now. Not that I have a new thing yet, but still. I think I might just be feeling contrary (am not. Am too. Oh dear).

I'm pretty sure eternal_ot spends her nights appealing to The Dark Lord for an army of minion kittens in her bid to take over the world. Because, who would suspect kittens? I've heard that karmasoup shakes out the circle of salt around her.

:-P~

Probably going to see the_dark_snack at a Who holiday party tonight. I'd hope beldarzfixon would be with her, but he's probably working.

lrig_rorrim is secretly the heroine of an Edwardian drama. You can tell because she has a fainting futon.

icaruslived is actually a sockpuppet of Deep Blue!

jem0000000 IS the nicest person on the internet. She tries really hard to hide it, but I know it's true.

gratefuladdict has promised me pie. I can't think of anything more outlandish than that.

Oh, and then there's talon. ...the things I could tell you about him and Hemingway, I just can't even.

I see you've bought into the propaganda. icaruslived isn't a sockpuppet of Deep Blue. He is, in all actuality, a small grumpy owl PRETENDING to be a sockpuppet of Deep blue.

I haven't posted the Killing Floor piece yet, though I did weigh what to post. I either don't have "true" favorites, or I don't want them ripped apart (the Woolworth's lunch-counter sit-in poem) or think that people were too scared to comment the first time (the "barrel of crabs" story from a few weeks ago).

An idea came to me on Wednesday morning, and I scribbled notes, and I do not understand why it has not written itself already! :(

LJ has been super slow and spotty for me today. I've lost several comments as I was in the process of posting them. :/

On the plus side, it kept me out of the GR so I was actually writing stuff. Which is probably for the best. Heh.

Ridiculous claims?
This week my opinion of a "fluffy" morning TV host went up several notches. He was interviewing the Prime Monster about how things are going in parliament and the PM lamented that the opposition were 'feral' and why wouldn't they stop being obstructionist. Fluffy host asked the PM if the opposition weren't simply doing what he had done, and done well, as opposition leader. Morning TV, at least here in Oz, isn't supposed to be serious. It was that day. And nothing the host said was ridiculous - it was right on.
You Americans think your Congress needs a shake up - take a look at the Australian parliament. Far few members of the House, but far more feral - on both sides. It's entertaining to watch, but frustrating that our national leaders are more focussed on behaving like kindy kids (sorry, kids, I know that's offensive to you) than on running the country.
