I'm off to do grown up things... Like possibly purchasing a dishwasher. A trip to IKEA might be included.

ETA not including looking at paint for the front door and a disposal. Gotta love these house things, I guess?

I think I will be trying to get a few hours in for the old office. I am doing some contract work on a project for them.

Hubby is headed off to Salt Lake City today for a conference for work. He will be gone until Saturday. Boo. I may go a little stir crazy this week.

I've discovered that LJI has given me (edit: "too many") fantastic ideas for NaNoWriMo this year. So I'm crowd-sourcing my decision-marking process:

http://the-lettersea.livejournal.com/66826.html

Thoughts appreciated.

(Yes, I know trying to do NaNo whilst trying to do LJI whilst trying to travel the world is beyond foolish. But then, my cautiousness was never really in question, was it?)

Well, I have experimented a couple of times this year with not going to bed at all when I had less than 3 hours left of the night, and came to the conclusion that even 90 minutes are better than nothing for me. They help my brain reboot and believe it is the new day, instead of the endless previous one.

If I don't sleep at all, I start "switching off" sometime the next afternoon, and if I do, then I can make it till the evening. *shrug*

This is such a fascinating thing to experiment with - your own body being the test subject. I love that humans push themselves in this way.

It is said that the 90 minute refresh option works for a while. Einstein adopted this during his most frantic times.

I have discovered that even though Hobby Lobby sometimes gets a bad rep, that at least THEY had a "Happy Hanukkah" rubber stamp that I wanted for card making purposes, whereas the nearest Michael's arts & crafts store had NOTHING - bupkis, as they say in Yiddish.

I'm going to go to the *other* Michael's and see if that one has any different stamping stock, but sheesh!

Still need to finish reading the poll entries - I think I've got 6-8 more left in the main tribe, then most of redemption.

(Is it just me, or do entries get longer the fewer contestants we have?)

I discovered that taking a BYE is making me jittery rather than relaxed. Huh. Like I've got nowhere to put my hands.

The whole "bye" thing is sort of weird, isn't it? I mean, you KNOW you're safe, yet it still sort of feels... off.

Not that I've taken byes all that much, and none yet this season, but that may be one of the reasons why!

That my dietary habits are extremely wacky at best.

And my son is picking up on them. I try to offer a variety of stuff, but he's like me. Snack snack snack snack snack.

And since I let my natural habits develop again, I think I've lost more weight? I keep getting asked if I have. I dunno, man. I don't own a scale.

The only indication of weight loss that I have is through my shirts and how they fit. Because I apparently never lose weight from my hips/legs. Sigh.

You have lost weight. We never do lose it from our hips! And snack snack snack is pretty much how I raised you guys. I'd make some sort of muffin/cakey thing in the morning if I was home and dinner. You guys fended for yourselves until then. Only during school days would you get lunch (either made or bought) and I'm not sure you ever wanted lunch money. :)

I spent my AM helping a speech-delayed pre school kid count to five with puzzles, blocks and her fingers. I discovered that she gets it; she just isn't speaking. Her smile tells me more.

Ummm... I discovered a new form of online Mah Jong, that combines the matching feature with a "connectability" twist. I.e., you can only match tiles with <=3 virtual "lines" in the path to them. Also, each session until you lose turns out to be about half an hour. :O

So... I lost some serious time to that addictive thing, and didn't get as much reading done as I wanted to! This was made worse by entering the time of year when I start to fall asleep about 1-2 hours earlier than usual... but I'm still sitting on the couch, trying to read entries. Ullllhhh.

I did finish a few chorelets. I got some Halloween decorations up, packaged some returned purchases, pondered why most of my daughter's senior portraits are out-of-focus (from the company the school MADE us use), and almost got to the end of the Fargo TV series except I kept falling asleep, and that's no way to watch a finale. :(

I discovered my puzzle ring! I was doing weeding in the yard yesterday and it slipped off my finger at some point. I was pretty sad, but Todd suggested I rent a metal detector, and sure enough, I found it within twenty minutes this morning. So, I'm a happy camper. I got my fidget thing back. Heh. Also, apparently there is a gold something eight inches down in my yard - I marked the spot and might go dig it up later to see what treasure I uncover.
