Green Room - Week 5 - Day 7

I considered several different approaches to this Green Room (actually wrote a few of them out) but ultimately I decided to call an audible on this one and make an announcement that is going to change the course of your Idol day:

In the first hour and half of the poll going up on Monday there were three sacrifices. One from Redemption, one from Tribe 1 and one from Tribe 4.

I'll announce *who* later, to at least have a little suspense, but for now, if you are in those tribes, you are safe.

Why am I announcing this? Because I know that time is short for a lot of people, and if they want to make an impact with their votes, there are still other tribes to consider! If you still have time, absolutely, read the terrific stuff in those tribes with the sacrifices! You definitely won't be sorry for doing it! I didn't want to announce it any sooner, because that would have cut into the reading and comments of these entries over the last couple of days, and they definitely deserve the attention. Now though, they are losing a few hours. I can live with that, and I hope they can as well.

So - if you haven't read yet, get to it! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/728057.html

Tribes 2, 3 and 5 are counting on you!

If you've been a good Deb and read all of the entries, get over to the Killing Floor and give some constructive criticism! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/727151.html

I'm pretty embarrassed that I forgot to add this to the original post, so this is an "edit to add". A friend of Idol needs some help. When I say "friend of Idol" I mean someone who was there pretty much on Day 1 of the concept and has been a vocal supporter of it ever since. She doesn't play, but she definitely reads and votes.

Which means she's family. Idol wouldn't be here if it wasn't for people like her encouraging me.

If you are in a position to help - please do. If you're not, please share. http://www.petcaring.com/pet-medical-expenses/taz-s-surgery-fund/38046

Results - Week 5

Yes, it's before the deadline for the results.

Yes, I've closed the polls.

I've thought about since I've heard the news, and with Gabriel Garcia Marquez dying today, we need all the writers we can get.

There will be no eliminations today.

The people who sacrificed this week were: linzbnl, kecharasmoon and x_disturbed_x. A newbie, an old friend with a new face and a fan favorite. Those are losses as well.

The rest of you have been spared this week.

Go forth and create something magical. Create something full of joy.

If you are not familiar with the work of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, use this opportunity to go forth and become familiar with it.

Topic - Week 6

When it comes to Week 6, you never know what might be in store for you.

So don't let a black cat cross your path, don't walk under ladders, and whatever you do, make sure not to

step on a crack

The deadline to link your entries back to this thread is Monday, April 21st at 8pm EDT.

Have fun!

Reminder: THIS THREAD IS FOR ENTRY LINKS ONLY! Take all non-entry link commentary to the Work Room or Green Rooms. Thank you.

Work Room - Week 6

I had something definite to post tonight for the Work Room, but that went out the window when the news came in.

Gabriel Garcia Marquez, if you couldn't tell, was one of my favorite writers and a huge influence on my own writing.

So I'll turn this back on you, who have been YOUR biggest influences, and what can you point to in your own writing that is there because of them?

You can find the new topic over at: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/729218.html

(Feel free to talk about what you loved in other contestant's writing as well!)

100 Weeks

With everything else happening, I almost forgot to post this. That would have truly been a shame, because it's very well deserved.

Back before I even knew "LJ drama", there were some frustrating times when I felt like I should just chuck it all and walk away. Once Season 4 hit, and I was in the darkest points of Idol, and personal, history I could look back and laugh. But at the time, it was serious.

There was one thing that came up - a running "joke" between myself and my assistant about what I would do if it ever came to just announcing "it's over" and walking away mid-season. This "joke" has stayed consistent for years.

I used the quotes, because it wasn't entirely a joke. ;)

The line was "beldar wins". Which was short-hand for saying that he was a solid writer and a solid human being that absolutely everyone would be happy to see win. No one would give me a problem if beldar were to win!

He's beldarzfixon these days, but I still can't think of anyone who wouldn't be happy to see him do well. He's still an awesome guy - and now, at long last, he has 100 Weeks in Idol under his belt!
