Green Room - Week 3 - Day 7

Evelyn Beatrice Hall said " "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it". Which is why it's usually attributed to Voltaire. It's OK though, she will defend your right to misattribute it. ;)

Seriously though, this got me thinking (never a good thing) about how you get from that to "I disagree with what you say, and F- you" culture that that we see in every day culture today (especially online).

Is there room for not liking a person or what they are saying, but finding that nugget of truth in their words? Can someone be a scumbag and still be able to create things worth enjoying? Are they "fruits of a poisonous tree"?

The more I see of 'net culture, the more that I wonder if it's possible to move forward in a way that isn't "destroy anyone who disagrees with any part of what I'm saying"

Or, are those just the loudest voices - and the loudest ones are often the people who should be ignored, because they are just talking to hear themselves speak?

Results - Week 3

Week 3 has come to a close, and with it, several of our own to going to that other castle called "The Home Game".

The Redemption Tribe, so named because it was formed from the people who were given a second chance in the game after being involved with a tie, has managed to produce YET ANOTHER TIE!

Which means that no one from that tribe will be going home this week. Tribe 3 has a massive 7-way tie, Tribe 4 has a 2-way tie, and those folks will be joining the Redemption Tribe next time around!

In the other tribes though, we *are* losing some people. Which is never fun. Unfortunately, we have to do so. Hopefully those leaving us will play the Home Game and stick around for their chance, later in the game, to rejoin the action!

Until then though, leaving us this week are:

uncawes
crazypuce
and malruniel11

Thank you for coming out this season!

Topic 4

Most of the time, I don't give context for the topics.

But then again, this is the first time that I've ever used an actual quote!

What is this quote? Just a little thing from a guy who knew a thing or two about a thing or two. ;)

Martin Luther King Jr. Perhaps you have heard of him.

The quote, and the topic?

“Nobody can ride your back if your back's not bent”

The deadline to link your entry back to this thread is Monday, April 7th at 8pm EDT

Have fun!

Work Room - Week 4

The new topic is up: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/723579.html

Sometimes things are specific, other times it's more vague.

Which is part of the fun, trying to balance those elements with what you want to do - and see where it leads you.

There is no mentor this week, but that doesn't mean that you can't ask for and receive advice from each other.

What have you been seeing "out there" that people need to keep an eye on avoiding this week?

With such a specific quote, how are YOU going to make sure to give it your own unique spin?
