Green Room - Week 15 - Day 2

Well, how do I follow that up? ;)

First of all, thank you to everyone who responded. Regardless of your take on the situation. A special thanks to those who, over the past couple of days, were able to keep their heads and not make it personal.

Because all too often, someone will take a conversation like this and use it to make personal attacks against someone else. Maybe it's just the nature of frustration, where your gut is to lash out at whoever is pissing you off, and maybe it's the nature of the person spewing out the hate. I'm not going to pretend to be qualified to say.

I'm sure we've all seen it before in other forums though. Heck, I'm pretty sure we've all muttered a thing or two under our breath, or had a passing thought. But I've always found that once you go there, once you start making personal attacks against someone as part of a larger argument, you lose.

It may rally a couple people, but it tends to turn a whole lot more off of whatever you are saying.

Anyway, I'm glad that most people were able to keep it civil, and when something did slip, I noticed some editing after the fact. ;) I appreciate that. That sort of thing doesn't help anyone, and just makes things worse.

Hopefully, having candid conversations about important issues, makes things a little better. Or at least gives folks something to think about.

With a couple exceptions that I can think of over the years, which have had more to do with just wildly different personal experiences between the people involved, I'd like to think that Idol can have a civil discourse. So, thanks for proving me right for having that bit of personal pride about my community. :)
