Green Room - Week 12 - Day 7

What are you people doing sitting around here?

Don't you have entries to read? http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/523621.html

Read. Comment. Vote.

Repeat if needed. Or if not needed. Or if you've voted all you care to vote, tell a friend to vote!

Then tell them to take out your trash. That's been sitting there for days. While they are at, if they could also clean over in that corner of the Green Room. I have no idea what that is, but I know that if we wait for the annual cleaning that it's going to be really nasty. So if someone could just pick it up now, that would be appreciated.

Results - Week 12

Welcome to Thursday.

Yes, I know, the day itself is almost over. But here in Idol, of late, "Thursday" has come to mean something so much more. It's about saying goodbye to old friends, as well as embracing new challenges.

But before we get to that second part, we have to go through the first. It's not running the gauntlet week after week, without losing some people. This week was no exception to that.

Two contestants decided, long before the polls closed, to sacrifice themselves. They are eliminating themselves in order for their tribes to not lose anyone else.

They are michikatinski and tough_doll

The biggest impact of bouncing immunity this week, is that two of them have passed from the game due to not being used.
On the other hand, we did have the following immunities handed out:

cemetaria gave hers to tigrkittn
karmasoup gave it to elionwyr
faerie_spark passed immunity to solstice_singer
alleyalligator did it to sarcasmoqueen
waveform_delta presented ryl with a very nice gift.

These 5 will be passing along the bouncing immunity to someone else, next week! Congratulations to all of you!

But while that might be good news for them. We do have some bad news to handle as well.

The contestants leaving us this week are a mixture of newbie and vet, and the fact that they are leaving I think says a lot about the talent pool of this season. Because it's pretty nifty group of people, that I hope will continue to stick around, Home Game, and maybe even try for a spot to get back in when the time comes.

But, for now, goodbye to

and thank you for everything!

Topic - Week 13

It's Week 13, and I'm sure there are some of you who are a little nervous about it.

Because what is coming is one of the single most dreaded topics, coming out of the vaults, and right back into your lives!

There's a twist to this topic, which makes it both unique and, of course hated.

I don't usually dictate anything like this for most topics after all. So, when I do, it can throw some people for a loop.

So, here are the details:

You can still do anything you want with the topic, any format, but you have to tie it in with an original inspiration from something in the news. I'd prefer local news. But it doesn't have to be. Take that source material (and link it somewhere in your piece, so other people can read about it as well.) and make something wonderful from it.

The deadline to link your entry back to this thread is Monday, Feb 6th at 9pm EST

Have fun!!

Work Room - Week 13

I have a feeling that there are going to be a lot of people scratching their heads and/or cursing my name (more so than usual) about this week's topic http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/525048.html

But I feel strongly that an Idol should be someone who knows what is going on in the world around them, and can be moved or somehow inspired by it. What you pick, and how you transform it,can say quite a bit about you as a writer and a person.

So, it's going to be interesting to see what you come up with.

You're on your own this week mentor-wise. But I think you folks have been stepping up to fill that role for each other anyway.

Where do you go for your news? What is the sort of thing you find interesting to read about? How do you think you can use it to transform it, to respond to it, in such a way that is very much your own?
