Green Room - Week 7 - Day 7

I'd bet 10 thousand dollars of Mitt Romney's money that you haven't finished your reading and voting for this week yet. But there's some good news - you have until Monday evening to do so! So there is still time!

Which means there is also still time for you to mention anyone who might not be doing as well as you think they should be doing! Or, some of your favorites for the week, even if they are doing OK.

How was your weekend? What would you bet 10 thousand dollars that you did, and would do again?!?

Results - Week 7

My apologies in advance, but I will posting the "special powers" announcement in a separate post. I don't like posting more than I have to - but there are going to be a lot of questions and comments, and I think the focus right now needs to be on those leaving us this week.

it was yet another really tight match this round. Most of the tribes came down to a couple votes. In the end, there were definitely some surprises.

Both Tribe 2 and Tribe 5 escaped elimination - but ended up sending 5 contestants to Tribe Redemption in the process!

They are
From Tribe 2
i_love_freddie and waveform_delta
From Tribe 5
erica_crawford, phoenixsansfyr and sunnyrai

The other tribes though, did end up losing people - and that's never easy.

Leaving us this week are

I hope to continue to see all of you in the Home Game, and in the Green Room. You never can be too sure what is going to happen next in Idol, or if you might get another chance to jump back into the fray!

"Special Powers"

Now we have the eagerly awaited "Special Powers" post.

Those familiar with Idol know of the twists and turns that pop into the game, making things a "little more interesting" at times. This season is no different.

I said we were entering Phase 2 once we were under 200 contestants, and here we are! ;)

I'll admit, I had only expected to hand out a a few of these, to the contestants who were at next to last position in their respective tribes, but the voters had other plans. They ended up giving me a hell of a lot more! Which should make things fun! Or maybe just "fun"!!

In just about every season of Idol there has been an "immunity" power. Each season they have worked a little bit differently, to keep you on your toes.

This season, I'm not even bothering with your toes - I'm taking you out at the kneecaps!

This is what I like to call a 'BOUNCING IMMUNITY".

Old immunity worked where someone would get it, and they would hold onto it until they needed it. One of the updated versions of immunity was that you couldn't use it for yourself, you had to give it away.

This is closer to the latter version. You HAVE to give it away. You can not use it on yourself.

But unlike in the past, you CAN NOT hold onto it. You have to use it every round. You will email your selection (it can be any current contestant from any tribe, not just your own) to me at at least one hour before the poll deadline to let me know your choice of who to save.

Bouncing immunities can not be used to save the same person during the course of their existence, and they will cease to be a part of the competition when we hit the Top 100, or if all of the remaining contestants have had immunity. Whichever comes first!!

You can, if you wish, also decide not to use it. If I do not hear from you by that time - or if I hear from you saying that you will not be using it, that particular immunity vanishes from existence.

As I said, the voters ended up giving me quite a few people! So the contestants who have been selected to assign the first round of Bouncing Immunities are:

Congratulations! And Good luck! ;)

Topic - Week 8

We enter Week 8 of LJ Idol, unsure of where we've going and certain that the trail of breadcrumbs is long gone.

The journey of it though, that is what is going to worthwhile!

Just in time for the holidays, our next stop is

A Traveling Travesty

Hopefully this will be a fun week!

The deadline to link your entries back to this thread is Thursday December 15th at 9pm EST

Have fun!

Work Room - Week 8

This week's topic could end up going in any number of directions - and knowing Idolers, it will. But before you run off, let me direct you to a definition of "travesty" that doesn't go into a dark place.

"a literary or artistic burlesque of a serious work or subject, characterized by grotesque or ludicrous incongruity of style, treatment, or subject matter." (from )

I try not to steer people toward things. Even when I do, no one tends to listen. ;) But I think there is a ton of things that can be done with just this part of the definition alone - and then take it on the road!! :)

I've brought in an old hand at creating works of wonder on the fly. Someone who knows the ins and outs, of pretty much everything.

Our Season 7 Winner, and reigning LJ Idol - and this week's Mentor - amenquohi!!

Hello everyone! I can't believe I'm back in the Idol Pool again - though to be fair, I'm not treading water (or drowning) with the rest of you.

Instead, I now get to lounge in indolent splendor here on the sidelines, with a fruity drink in my hand. It's a nice place to be.

So here I am, four-time veteran and one time winner, professional(paid!) blogger, with a book deal in the works (fingers crossed) and one hell of a lot of luck. If you don't believe me, check out the entries from the final three last season. Or five. Or ten. This contest can come
down to one vote, and I am living proof. That, above all means that you just can't phone it in. You need to bring your A-game more often than not, and in the later weeks, you need to erase every other letter but "A" from your game alphabet. No pressure, though.

I'm happy to answer any questions (entirely from my own viewpoint, ofcourse, YMMV), cheerlead, and offer whatever limited resources my braincan manage. I'll start by imparting this piece of wisdom that saved meon many an Idol week when I was staring blankly into space and saying "Uhhhhhhhhhhhh".

The first rule of Thesaurus Club is that you do not talk, articulate, babble, broach, chant, chat, chatter, comment on, communicate, confess, converse, describe, divulge, drawl, drone, express, flap one's tongue, gab, gabble, give voice to, gossip, influence, intone, notify, palavar, parley, patter, persuade, prattle, prounounce, reveal, rhapsodize, run on, say, soliloquize, speak, spill the beans, spout, squeak, squeal, tell, tell all, use, utter, ventriloquize, verbalize, voice or yak about Thesaurus Club.

In other words, use your Thesaurus.

Seriously. When the prompt comes up,pick a keyword (or the word itself, if it's a one-word prompt) and pull out the Thesaurus. I had many times when the prompt itself didn't
immediately ring bells for me, but a synonym suddenly triggered acreative landslide. It's a good trick, and it saved my ass more than a few times.
