Everyone ready for the vote today? That's still a pretty big list of people who need to get in their entries *and* there's *38 people* who are one missed deadline away from "bye-ing out" of the competition!

So what is going on with you today?

We are 2 people away from the half-way point of the game. Which means the people who received immunity this week, or used a bye, go ahead and pat yourself on the back. You have reached the half-way point.

This is the last time for the tribes… so I will say “make it count”, however it is that you want to interpret that.*g*

The two people with the fewest votes, from each tribe will be going home. Once again, that means we will be losing a total of 4.

This is one of those BIG votes, not only because it sets up the Top 50% of the contest, but there is a big prize for the person who has the most votes OVERALL. You will have one of the biggest powers, and biggest decisions, ever given out to one person in the history of the game! Also, a power will be given to the person with the lowest amount of votes who is not eliminated (and who didn’t have immunity or use a bye, just to make sure that’s clear.).

Voting starts now and will go until Monday Jan 28th at 1pm EST. And oh yeah, let’s make it fun – it’s community only! So you have to be a member of the community to vote! Why? Because this is a big one!

There is one bye out this week - bella_devil and one drop out cheapdestiny. Both of these I can say with all sincerity that I did not see coming and that these are two folks who were definitely be missed.

That's the bad news.

Here's the good: Anyone remaining in the game has now, officially, made it to the half way point!

I usually post these earlier in the day, but I ran out of time.

People have asked "What are Gold Stars"? It's my way of giving a public pat on the back to people that I think have made a difference in the competition. This past week we saw how much of a difference that could make as 6 people were spared a run-off just because they did enough of the right thing at the right time.

Why do I have them? Because ultimately, I just have one vote and I pretty much vote for everyone. But by giving out these awards I can at least spotlight people that I think need a little extra attention. They might not have the friends lists that others have (some do, some don't), and it has nothing to do with what I thought of their entry that week... I do tend to like their writing as a rule, but it's not what dicates who gets a Gold Star.

It's completely and utterly a civic pride issue, giving an extra boost to someone who has stood out to me, and making sure that everyone else takes notice as well.

I give out 1 Gold Star per 10 contestants. Which is why the first time there were 15. Which is why this time there are 7.

That also means that every week that goes by it will be harder and harder to get them, especially since I DO try to spread them around. (and as previously noted, people on my friends list actually have a *harder* time getting them, because I try to pick them last since I'm used to them which means they have to work harder to get my attention.*g*)
