Hai Green Room!

*sets out some of the zucchini chocolate chip cookies she made in the middle of the night*

P.S. See? I should really start competing for the prize for most seconds. :-)

Good weekend so far :)

First Capitals home game of the official season won 4-2, caught up on some sleep, took some fun pictures, and now I'm vegetating watching vampire movies and eating delivery.

I'm still trying to get a feel for the new tribes, including mine :) I have a lot of reading to do, should help fill up the rest of my day!

We were down at the Verizon Center last night... it was a sea of red. However, we went to watch a movie instead.

I can't wait for December and NCAA Basketball.

I mailed out my first dreamcatcher! *glee*

Other than that we slept in until 10 today. Such a wonderful thing to do once in a while! :D And now we're setting up for a bit of tabletop gaming while listening to the Halloween playlist.

Hope everybody else is having a great weekend!

... tabletop. You know, I've been wanting to try at least some of that. I have no idea how it even works.

::grins at the dreamcatcher reference::

Hugs you!

Hi all!
Nothing interesting in my corner of the world. I think I feel better but I said that before and boom! But let's hope this time it's for real.

It's a beautiful fall day here. We went for a ride yesterday and the foliage is really pretty.

Hope all are enjoying the day. I have tomorrow off! Yay!

I think the entry with the most beautiful turn of phrase was from alexpgp (located here. He wrote about watching the Leonids from his home in Colorado several years ago. It made me think of every space opera and all the science fiction I grew up reading, of expansionist dreams and falling stars.

I wish the weather would improve. I feel so restless but there isn't anything to do. (Other than laundry.)

I hope you don't miss me!
Yo, peoples. Happy $YOURHOLIDAY.

Most of my favorites are doing fine, although I think the "to pimp or not to pimp" question is an interesting one -- it comes up every season, right? Where are requests for votes valid, how often is too often, should writing stand on its own?

I am going on a Segway tour of DC in a little bit, but I should be back to play later, if anyone wants to chat here about it.

Re: I hope you don't miss me!
We saw the Segway tour group rolling around DC yesterday, looked like a lot of fun :)

One the one hand, you'd hope the writing would stand on its own if it's written well. But I think like American Idol, everyone's "hometown" is going to vote for them even if they didn't do so well which is going to partially wash out the writing quality. I do think exceptional writing will bob to the top and shine without pimping. I don't think I could count on that every week to survive :D

PSA: check your blood pressure
Check your blood pressure. Get it checked on a regular basis and talk to your doctor about it. Be aware of things you do, medications, foods, or anything that might negatively affect it. That BP cuff is annoying but it is vital. If you can't see your doctor, lots of pharmacies have a free place to get it checked.

This is a public service announcement, brought to you by me. In the past week, three different people connected to my friends and LJ friendslist have suffered strokes. High blood pressure is a serious factor with strokes.

Now that I have successfully achieved first status, I can leave a real comment.

My Friday was very busy with clients. I didn't get home until like 11:30 but it's all good.

Saturday I went to judge the talent show at my primary place of employ. It was rather fun, but also rather strange to be there on a weekend. My co-worker (who was also a judge) and I fully expect there to be quite a few referrals requesting mental health services on Monday as a result of our being there. Most of them will be bogus, but that's okay.

Saturday evening I got a craving for pizza. We live in the middle of nowhere and no one delivers out here, but Domino's finally started to a few months ago. So I ordered some pizza and promptly overate, resulting in a food coma. Passed out on the couch around 8 or so and pretty much remained sleeping either on the couch or on the bed until noon on Sunday. The other half came home from work at 6 in the morning this morning (night shift - ugh!) and we've been cuddling. But now I'm up and awake and catching up on my friends' list. Beautiful day here, too.

*sits down to watch a little football*

I'm sitting in my jammies, watching football, drinking hot apple cider, and playing packrat. May go to help John's mom's to help with painting and such (since the Steelers have their bye week this week).

I think we're ordering pizza for lunch. Yum!

Ooo, almost forgot, Redskins game should be on. Should put that on after Blade ends.

Hello, I'm dizzydog, and I'm a reformed packrat addict. I still get sucked in on occasion, but nothing like the 12 hour click-binges I used to get stuck in :) Collecting sets of things really gets its hooks in me, so MMOs, packrat, BPAL are all bad bad draws :)

Hey! Home game entry: http://amergina.livejournal.com/685943.html

Comments welcome!

In other news, I just got up. Missed church this morning. Was up until 5:30 am because my kitty withe the eye issue figured out how to contort his head to scratch his eye with the short e-collar on, so I had to put on the larger e-collar, and he moved about all night.

I think it's allergies, rather than anything related to the injured eye, because he goes after the *other* eye as well.

But it made for a sleepless night. Today, I need to move a shrub before they start my sunroom edition, and I need to go grocery shopping and bring the tender plants indoors.

It's actually been a reasonably good weekend so far, launched by a productive heart-to-heart with our semi-daughter.

Yesterday and today have included food shopping, with meal fixings for the next two weeks; taking out screens and putting up storm windows; putting summer clothes away and getting out my sweaters and winter clothes; follow-up on job-hunting leads; and assembling addresses for a mass mailing to retailers to encourage them to order the BLAKE'S 7 audio series for the holiday season.

Highlights from my blog this weekend include:

* The return of The Anti-Apollyon Diaries

* The resumption of entries in The Blog Stoker's DRACULA Project

* A poll about huggable, squishable amorphous blobs of fat

Now it's time to hang my Halloween flags on the porch. I'm behind on everything, including decorating.

Lazy day here today after much running around yesterday getting my son ready for his first high school dance.

I slept until 11:30 am, and I am still in my jammies and drinking coffee. I do need to do some laundry at some point though.

Dinner is already in the crock (15 bean soup) and the house is already smelling yummy!

Even if I weren't staying away from the Green Room (mostly) this year, it would have been impossible to have time to check in.

A dear friend is in the hospital with a very serious stroke, although he's finally making progress and we're at least past the point where we're worrying he'd going to die.

My father also had a (thankfully more minor) stroke on Friday, and will be in the hospital for at least a few more days.

Meanwhile, my partner and I still went to Ikea yesterday to buy a new bed, stuffs for the cats, and two new office chairs. We have to put that together tonight.

Now I'm at work, and I am beyond drained.

To correct a remark made by someone up thread:

You are never too young to have a stroke. My friend is 44. I have another friend who had a stroke at 26. Check your fucking blood pressure.
