Yeah, there are other places where it's recognized as well, but the first place that I've ever worked where they actually did something for it was 5 years ago when I started at my current job.
and now, here it is, officially recognized as a holiday at LJ Idol! Which is probably the most important recognition anything can get, in the known universe and at least half of the unknown universe.
And by holiday, I mean, you still have to work it - there is a new topic: https://therealljidol.livejournal.com/1143861.html with a corresponding Work Room https://therealljidol.livejournal.com/1143666.html where people have been spending the last few weeks reliving their childhoods where they were picked last for dodge-ball.
It's always interesting to see who thinks that they *aren't* popular - and as the only person seeing the votes, I know how many of their fellow competitors actually DO vote for them week after week.
It's also interesting to see where the "cool kids table" is every season - which shifts during the course of the season, sometimes splitting into rival tables. Which has the advantage of "hey, nice table", but the disadvantage of putting a target on you from everyone who thinks they are outside of that group.
Will the story-line of this season be the Revenge of the Misfits, rising up to take over? Or will it be the Cool Kids crushing the misfits under their boot? Will people even realize that they *aren't* the underdog? Or given how close the voting has been - is the perception of who is "in" and who is "out" just a matter of when those voters happen to show up/when you refresh?
