Green Room - Week 2 - Day 6

Who isn't getting the love they deserve? https://therealljidol.livejournal.com/1070123.html

In the poll, but also in real life? Who needs more love? :)

***

It's another quick Green Room as I await my ride. I had a computer yesterday, because the team lead went home sick. Otherwise I spent the morning just trying to scan the archive of backlog paperwork into an online archive of backlog paperwork.

I DID get an email letting me know that the IT department was "really sorry" for how long this was taken, but that due to a "minor issue" my new computer "didn't get on the truck" yesterday afternoon. But they promised that it "definitely would be on the truck tomorrow". Of course, that courier doesn't come until late afternoon. So who knows where I will be and what I will be doing for the rest of the day!

It's not like I'm in any hurry - it's only been a week and two days since my work computer died and I started my game of non-musical chairs depending on who happened to be out that day. (RIP Work Computer)

How is YOUR week going?

I did not sleep well last night. Today should be a blast (note sarcasm). Right now I'm nursing a coffee and half playing attention to the news. I should walk The Kidz before going in but I need more coffee first.

Yay, I remembered to login! Boo, I fought insomnia last night too, which was very stinky because I was exhausted. Hopefully we both sleep better tonight!

Right that is my voting done! I think I commented on everything except dw ones that didn't have an lj mirror.

It feels like commenting is waaaaay down. I was the first or second to comment on some of these days after they have been written.

I did my reading and voting and commented on maybe 10% of the entries.

It seems like the number of people who have voted is still pretty low, so I'm not sure who to say should have more love for their entry. I certainly appreciate love. I also think people should read pixiebelle's entry this week. (I've forgotten how to tag people!) It drew me in and kept me interested through to the end.

:waves: No computer, no work, right? Isn't that how that should work? lol

IRL we all could use more love, couldn't we?

I am still working through the entries for the week. There are some fantastically talented people here and it is a pleasure to read them all!!! Other than that, my week has been calm so in comparison to the last few weeks, it's a blessing and I will happily take it!

I am about a third of the way through the entries. I have really been impressed by the quality so early in the season. In my 3(?) seasons, that hasn't always been the case. There are some impressive writers out there.

Burn. Previous season people are applying medicated lotion over that comment.

Of everything I read there are two that especially stuck out, because the ending caught me by surprise: d0gs' entry about a fictional set of twins (it felt very real, and I was prepared to leave a sympathetic comment right up until the last two lines), and troof_therry's about an alien invasion that is...not for the reason you'd think aliens would invade.

d0gs is doing well in the polls, and troof_therry is in tribe 2 with me, where we don't seem to have as many people voting yet, so I'm not sure either of them NEED more love, per se, but they're both great :)

D0gs entry is on my list of favorites too this week. I haven’t gotten to your second recommendation yet, gives me something to look forward to.

Week? Pretty good. Morning? UGH.

Husband 1 locked his keys in his car at the grocery store. I had to drive the spare keys out to him, which involved packing up a toddler who did NOT want to put their shoes on or leave the house. I don't know my way to the grocery store (I am disabled and almost never drive) so I had to load Google Maps on my phone. When I turned a corner my phone flew off the mount and got lost under the passenger seat. Then I started getting nonstop calls from my teen at home that made Google Maps error and shut down, so I didn't even have the audio directions and had to kind of guess my way to the store from the last time I was driven there (months ago). I grab my phone from under the seat at a red light, answer, and my kid is freaking out because while I was gone (LESS THAN TEN MINUTES, C'MON GUYS) our dogs tore into a bag of potatoes, a package of garlic, a bag of ginger root, and the garbage can and spread it all over the floor. And I found out I'd made a wrong turn when I hung up and got Maps running again. I finally get to the store, tell Husband 1 he needs to go back in for potatoes, ginger, and garlic, pass off the toddler because they will NOT accept seeing their Papa but not going with him, and drive home, hitting a huge pothole on the way that flared my herniated discs and spinal arthritis and dented my tire rim.

I could definitely use some love today.

Still working on reading through poll 2 (I always read my group first, then the others) but I’ve only got maybe 10 left. I’m not sure who needs more love, but so far there are three in poll two that I really loved: Lost_Nepenthe, Me_Sonrei, and Rayaso. (Sorry not tagging, too much effort on my phone)!

I have only finished one poll and part of the second (I read from the entry page, not the second poll directly yet). But I have a few favorites already! I hope I can figure out tagging properly, it’s been awhile.

I’m sure I’m missing some, but these were the names I wrote down on my list to vote for and added stars to their names because at the time of reading, I was like, “YES! I loved that!”

So how’s my week? A mixed bag. Termites in my apartment, but that’s pushed me to working in coffee shops and upped my productivity so it’s going to become a regular thing. And I put myself out there to find clients in France that will help with my Visa application - and I have an opportunity to teach creative writing classes at a farmhouse in the French countryside. No guarantees yet, but I’m like, “how is this my life?”

Yeah if someone told me I could teach creative writing in a farmhouse in France, I'd be like YEP BE RIGHT THERE! That's so awesome, I really hope you get to do that!!

(And yikes for the termites, eeek)

I'm on borrowed time (generator) because we are being held fast in the grip of outdated, outmoded, worn out technology and have no electricity. No power all last weekend and now PG&E is saying this latest outage will last five days. I'm reading when I can! This seems to be a very strong season of truly talented writers!

No power for 5 days?! That's nuts!!

I'm extremely fortunate to live in the land of Microsoft, because when power goes down here the whole city is like, "WE CAN'T STAND FOR THIS, THIS IS MICROSOFT TERRITORY PEOPLE!!" And it's essentially fixed immediately.

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this for 5 days!! I hope it comes back sooner than that for you.

Well I just had coffee which often puts me in the best mood, so I'm feeling excellent and like I want to hug everyone right now. HUGS all around, y'all!!

I also helped my neighbor this morning (the one who gave me the coffee, in fact), and so that has me feeling happy too. She gave me a lead on something that might help my mom's housing situation. And I helped my neighbor learn how to sign into Google Hangouts for her job interview.

I feel bad though, I'm not used to her phone, so I couldn't figure out how to hang up at first, and I think the interviewers finally hung up. That was stressful. I was determined not to be the cause of any strike against her, interview-wise.

Anyway. Sick kid is home sick. I am going to scrounge up some breakfast-y / brunch foods for us. And then I'll get back to reading. It's always fun getting through all the entries. I also figured out how to put on the Excel spreadsheet the code for blank entries in a column, and it tells me how many I have left to read. I love watching it countdown as I make progress through everyone's entries!

And yes, comments are really good. I think in the beginning it's really hard even getting through them all, much less leaving comments on them all, but gosh dang it, I'm giving it the ol' college try! :D

All right, enough caffeinated rambling, have a good day, everyone!

I need more love ;...;

My week is a week. I'm working now, which is cool. I'm working on moving out which will be cooler. I'm glad it's Idol season. Even though my life is really busy, I really look forward to playing.

Wishing those who keep Yom Kippur and Atonement a blessed Holy Day.

I'm nowhere near ready to leave tomorrow. Will be working from sunset to sunrise I suspect. I'm so far behind on the reading. Please forgive me. I will be voting for you all.

Might not be around for the next couple of days. Be happy, have a great weekend, and wishing Canadian Idol-ers a very happy Thanksgiving!

I feel like having a username in the back-end of the alphabet may be working against me a little bit. By the time people get down to "V" they're probably saying, "Ugh I'll just vote for myself because this is too much hassle." I mean, that's what I'm saying by the time I get to "C" so I'm sure that people that are less distractible are at least getting down to "R" or "S" before they start to fade.

Just saying.

That's why I'm starting my reading this week from the bottom up. I like to alternate so it's not all the top-of-the-alphabet people getting all my votes first.
