It's funny how quickly this has gone. I know it's only 4 weeks total, but it seems like we just got started a minute ago.
On the other hand, pretty much everything I had set up ended up falling through. I had guest Mentors (published authors of children's books) and librarians making lists of their favorite age-appropriate books. But just like Livejournal itself, those people seemed to fall into a pit and not come back out again.
Usually I don't mention when things *don't* happen, because I prefer to concentrate on the positive. But I did want you to know that there was stuff that was supposed to happen, and who knows, maybe they *will* come through.
How did YOUR weekend go? I spent most of mine at work (trying to get in some overtime to pay for this "foot thing".)
Anyone doing anything exciting?
Today is the deadline for this week's topic:

I had an uninvited, unwanted and very unwelcome guest over the weekend. Arriving late Saturday night and hanging around, and in fact still here, doing nothing constructive. Migraine-strength headache I haven't been able to get rid of--not fun.
Watched the royal wedding, loved it. What a beautiful bride! My favorite dress of all time--gorgeous! Might not see another, so very happy to have seen such a lovely one on Saturday.

We watched the Royal Wedding too, which was pretty fun! Years back, when Homer was just born, we watched William and Kate get married, so it was fun doing that again for Harry and Meghan. I also thought it was kind of cool that she and I have the same name and spell it the same way too. :) Anyway, Royal Weddings remind me of Homer's birth, so that was kinda fun. The ceremony itself was really interesting, and I think my favorite part might've been when they sang Stand By Me. But I also loved their first kiss and the horse carriage ride. :)
(Waves at Mehgan.) Apart from the dress, which at first glance became my favorite royal wedding dress, I adored the way they looked at each other, held hands pretty much throughout the ceremony, and then when the officiant, after having asked them if they would love, honour, etc., asked the congregants if they would help the couple. Have never seen that before, and I loved it! And while wasn't all ga-ga over her Stella McCartney reception gown, she looked absolutely lovely and classy in it.
Wonderful that Wills & Kate's wedding holds so many wonderful memories for you. Especially memories of our newest little budding writer's birth.
In all fairness, one of those was me because I should have reminded her. But that's also the one with the highest chance of still happening.
"They would have been wonderful, but as fascinating as they would have been the truly greatest thing about Idol Minor is the writer/contestants. And we have those!"
We absolutely do! And they are great!
Hope it works out for you, Gary. It would be fun for the kids!
Yay for the Royal Wedding. Although I feel strange saying that considering that I actually didn't get up to watch it. I went into work this weekend, so I was already getting up pretty early and with everything else going on it wasn't on my radar the way previous weddings have been. I need to back and watch it.
As for our weekend, we watched the Royal Wedding, and also went to Homer's buddy's birthday party. We had a great time there at their house, as we always do with these friends (Homer's friend's mom is a friend I met right here on Livejournal about ten years ago! We were finally able to meet in person about 5 years ago, and we lucked out that the kiddos like each other too!). So not only did we have birthday party fun, but Homer's pal gave him a pet praying mantis, which we're pretty excited about over here. It's a teeny baby at the moment, and we look forward to watching him grow.
I want to do this again.
I remember the excitement of *finally* meeting people from LJ. I'm glad things worked out so well for both you AND your kids! Have you recruited said kid for Season 3? ;) (oh come on, you knew I was going to ask that!!)
The praying mantis sounds cool!
