Green Room - Week 28 - Day 3

Entries are due tomorrow http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/1039981.html. which is probably why everyone is so quiet at the moment.

Well, hopefully why...

I think everyone knows the bad news out there in the world lately, and is talking about it elsewhere - so what's GOOD in your world lately?

Ok! Here's what I've been up to! My son's 11th birthday was Monday and you know what that means - that's when you get your invitation to Hogwarts! He is a huge Harry Potter fan, and I have seriously been thinking about this since he was 6 years old and went crazy for the books!

I was up until 3 a.m. on Sunday night - Monday morning, sneaking around on a ladder, getting this together while he was asleep!!

When he came downstairs for school he was completely surprised. He read his Hogwarts invitation letter and still didn't get that when it said to report there on October 19 it was because we are GOING to the Wizarding World in Orlando in the fall! He freaked when he realized that! We've never been before.

Then, for dinner, I made roast beef and mashed potatoes with butter beer, a jello pensieve and brownie potted mandrakes for desert - he doesn't like cake, lol!

It was such fun. The letters are still hanging in my living room but this weekend we are going to transfer them to his bedroom ceiling so the magic can live on!

Great Mom of the Day Award!

This is the sweetest.

Though him not liking the cake reminds me of the time my mom made my brother green eggs and ham (just add food coloring) and he would not eat them because they were gross. On the plus side, that book almost immediately dropped out of the nightly reading rotation.

Oh, this is amazing! :)

I spent the morning crying in bed, but now I am at my trusty computer keyboard and directly in my view out the window there is a regal blue heron hanging out at the edge of my pond.

Blue herons! They're such pretty birds. I chased one down a creek one time trying to get a decent picture. I got the heron version of "Where's Waldo" instead.

So sorry you had a sad morning. Hugs

But a blue heron, that's a precious thing to see.

I'm so sorry you had such a bad morning, but I'm glad it got better.

That would be a great time to have an emergency kitten service that brings kittens to you for cuddling on demand.

I'm seeing someone new, and things with him are going pretty well. Also, I got word that something I'd been worried about, work-wise, has turned around and should be just fine, so that's nice. :)

So, that's all good, right? :-)

We're quiet because we're on vacation in Washington, D.C., visiting our daughter. Worst possible time to have two topics in less than a week, when we're sightseeing and visiting family!

So, I'm struggling to get either of the two stories written, and both of us are kind of incommunicado. Locally, the Trump snafu is all over CNN on repeat all day and night, and I'm feeling bad for all of the people in this city who have to deal with the fallout of that man.

And boy, does it ever put a weird spin on visiting the Capitol building and re-experiencing the noble ideas of our country's origins, or on visiting the Lincoln Memorial and reading his wise words on race relations and our country's truth and purpose. It just makes you mourn the current Presidency all over again. :(
