Green Room - Week 28 - Day 2

Good Morning.

I've been off the grid for the last couple days and have been catching up on the news of the world purely by photos. Haven't had time to actually sit down and read any stories...

That's pretty crazy that Frankenstein's Monster has come back and attacking some town in VA!

I'm really glad those angry villagers were able to drive him off!

I loved all the photos of them pointing and yelling "He's over there!!!". With their arms fully extended, if you didn't know better, you might accidentally think they were doing some weird salute... which is why it's so funny. Because clearly they weren't. It's just really important to let the rest of the angry, torch bearing mob know when the Monster is on the move!

Not sure why everyone else is so riled up though, it's not like it was Dracula...

There are two new topics http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/1039981.html - which may be worse than Dracula... but please don't grab a bunch of tiki torches to try to hunt them down. (1) because there are a lot of flammable things in this room and you won't want to light the whole place up. and of course (2) people holding tiki torches look ridiculous. Grab an *actual* torch and maybe a pitch fork if you want people to take your monster hunting seriously.

What monsters have YOU been hunting lately?

I was watching Rachel Maddow last night and she made a good point about the tiki torches: they did a great job of making sure we can clearly see every one of those Nazis in the thousands of photos posted to the internet. LET THE SHUNNING BEGIN!

One of my more activist RL friends posted something akin to "if you're not expressing outrage over what has happened, your privilege is showing". It then continued into the why of it. At the end...ack, I wish I could remember the exact words, but the word choice/tone was, to me, a blatant mea culpa. A shaming, to put it bluntly.

I don't take kindly to public shaming. I also have more important things going on so my sense of outrage/anger is already spread thin enough I refuse to apologize for that, and if that's showing my privilege, then so be it.
