Green Room - Week 27 - Weekend Edition

Until I completely deleted my internet history, I'd been getting a error since last night every time I tried to come onto Idol via computer. Since I wasn't having trouble seeing it on my phone,I finally just cleared my history, and here we are!

Which just goes to show - something it's not LJ causing problems. Sometimes it's just good ole fashion user error!

The new topic is up: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/1038057.html

and there isn't a Work Room this week. Mostly because I've been getting the feeling that this group really doesn't need it at this point. If I'm wrong though, please let me know if it should return going forward.

What do YOU have going on this weekend? I don't have much happening. I'll probably watch the new episode of Australian Survivor, because that version has been better than the US one. And of course Game of Thrones, which I will be watching at it's normal time, not the hack that leaked the episode (and a lot of other personnel information from the sounds of it).

Just got back from seeing Dunkirk. Apparently I'm going to be one of the very few who were "meh" about it. It was ok. I was expecting more after seeing the trailer in the theater last month, and then reading all the glowing reviews after it came out.

Mostly I'm just commenting because of "Australian Survivor". This is a thing?! How do I view it? Tell meeeeeee!

If you're not in Australia, you can't watch it officially. BUT, of course there are always ways. https://www.dailymotion.com/drew-johnson is a really good one. (he's slower than some of the lesser reputable sites, but Daily Motion is a *lot* safer)

Season 4 is airing now and it's about to start episode 3. Season 3 was last summer and featured one of my personal favorite winners of all time and absolutely THE best final episode of any season of any version of Survivor.

There is also a Survivor NZ, which I had high hopes for at times, but really suffered in comparison. It kind of became everything that is wrong with Probst's world view.

My kids go back to school on Monday. I seriously grieve before summer ends because I love it so much. I decided to blow it out by doing some super fun things. We went to a small animal preserve today where we got to play with four month old wolf pups and have birds land on us like Snow White, lol!

Tomorrow we may go tube the Chattahoochee River or just swim and picnic at the lake. I don't want Monday to come!!

You are so wonderful! All I have ever heard from parents is how they can't wait for their kids to go back to school. You are SuperMom!

You are too kind! I'm no supermom though. I have great kids and really enjoy hanging out with them. And, I work full time so that may be the biggest factor. In the summer, I work and they go to day camps during the week. So, we are together every evening and on weekends and for a one week vacation while school is out. I have to squeeze as much summer goodness into those times as I can!

At the library I see so many moms who are near desperate to get away from their children by summer's end. I feel bad for them but I feel worse for their kids. They have to know their parents are counting the days till they can ditch them at school again!

Watched the penultimate episode of "Orphan Black." I'm definitely going to miss this program when it ends next Saturday, and the immense talent of the team to make the immensely talented Tatiana Maslany into so many people. It really is an incredible effort. HBO night on Sunday. I wish grrm didn't disable comments to his LJ.

There are several Australian tv series I would check out if I knew how.

We just finished Season 4 on Amazon. We're too cheap to pay for Season 5, so we'll wait until they release it, LOL. But yeah, shows like Orphan Black generally aren't up my alley but it eventually grew on me. I'm so thrilled she won an Emmy last year -- very well deserved because her acting leaves me speechless every so often.

Australian series? Have you ever watched The OA on Netflix? Or Cleverman? There's also a period murder mystery series I couldn't get into but it's gotten rave reviews (the name escapes me at the moment).

You can really see the care they take with "Orphan Black," and how tricky it is to pull off, and how Tatiana sometimes plays clones impersonating other clones which is maybe one of my favorite things during the series.

The only Australian series I have seen more than one episode of were "Neighbours," which apparently every Australian actor must appear on, some kids show called "H2O - Just Add Water" about a group of teen mermaids attempting to live a life on land and a quirky little program called "The Librarians" which, as you might guess, has some appeal to a writer like me.

I drove from El Paso, Texas to San Diego, California today. Yes, that does mean I was in 4 big states in one day. Tomorrow, our hosts here are taking us on a cruise of San Diego Bay. Should be a lot of fun! It'll be good not having to drive for a change. Twelve and a half hours on the road today... My longest day of driving on this road trip.

On Tuesday I get to meet up with one of my Idol besties in Long Beach, on my way home!

It's been a couple of years, so I'm excited to see her again! Last time I saw her was two summers ago when we went down to Magic Mountain.

The cruise sounds heavenly. I love to be on the water! And meeting up with Idol friends IRL? AWESOME!

We got very lucky that we were able to get here and join their plans. I'd only decided two weeks before that I was going to come to San Diego on this road trip!

I always enjoy meeting up with my Idol friends IRL. This will be our third time meeting (the second since we've both been living in the same state). Meanwhile I have another Idol friend I've already seen this year and will again in two months, and he lives further away. Clearly I need to travel to Southern California more often than I do. XD (Actually I've been to SoCal three other times since I last saw her, but we weren't able to meet up then).

Oh god, I'm getting stir crazy. I haven't been talking much about it online because, really, who wants to hear me moan and groan?

I love the knee scooter we rented but there's two things to remember:

1. It's really not meant for outside trekking. I've been tagging after SO and Max and our streets aren't the best, so I end up going 0.00001 mph so I don't tumble over a pebble or stick or pothole or whatever-is-around (I did the pebble last night -- scary because I would've landed on The Foot had I actually tipped over)

2. If your bad knee is on the same side as The Foot it has the tendency to freeze while you're using the scooter. So, yeah.

I'm still kind of loopy from meds so I can't really do anything constructive except occasionally play a game on my tablet or go online like this. I'm so sick of TV it isn't funny.
