Green Room - Week 25 - Day 4

When was the last time you put pen to paper and wrote a letter to someone? http://metro.co.uk/2017/07/24/this-poet-is-writing-one-million-letters-to-strangers-6802943/

Don't do it right now though, because you have a deadline TONIGHT! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/1033473.html

Why hello GR!

It's been 5 days since my foot surgery and I am trying my damndest not to go completely nuts from the inactivity (I'm *supposed* to be on bed rest for the first 2 weeks). The good news is that I no longer need the super-duper painkillers. The bad news is that I still need the other meds which make me loopy-doopy.

I love my husband and he's been taking wonderful care of me, but gah, my kitchen is such a mess that I have conniption fits every time I thump through it toward the bathroom. ARGH. Max Dog hasn't left my side since the surgery. He doesn't even want to go out on a w-a-l-k most of the time.

So sorry. Poor Max. It sounds like he's still a little traumatized by the loss of his brother.

Good for you for getting off the heavy meds as soon as possible.

Sending you healing thoughts and wishes.

Poor Max. It sounds like he's still a little traumatized by the loss of his brother.

I have no doubts about that. Before the surgery I'd been walking him here, there, and everywhere introducing him to as many dogs as possible. SO's been trying to pick up the slack but it's difficult for him with everything else going on.

Had to take a heavy med earlier. I accidentally jammed my foot in the bathroom while trying to pivot

And thank you :hugs: It's going to be a long slog, so I'll try not to whine too much, LOL.

I made a commitment to write birthday cards to all of my aunts and uncles this year, which is nothing like a million people but does require a letter.

There's a big transition coming up at work, but no one wants to talk details yet. Since I'm in the middle of it and will have a lot to work out logistically, I find this frustrating.

I make a point of writing letters. Handwritten cards and letters. It's a hold over from my penpal days, from my love letter days, from my ArtMail days.

Perhaps...we could all write a letter to dmousey who is in the hospital. I'm not sure of the logistics of getting the letters and cards delivered to her. Maybe theun4givables could help?

I think that is a lovely idea :D
As I'm in the UK I'm not sure how feasible/fast it would be for me personally - maybe I'll send an e-card and/or we could have a post to collect digital wishes alongside sending physical cards?

I was actually trying to work something out for her -- her husband doesn't do well in the heat we've been having (though it thankfully broke a little, the past couple of days). She mentioned something like getting him a fruit and cheese basket.

n3m3sis43 also has been asked to amazon them little things (like styluses for my mother's kindle or chargers) I meant to get back to Gary but I was thinking of using my PayPal if anyone wanted help pitch in for those little incidentals or the basket. :)

I can bring things to her, too, but getting to visit her is a little difficult at the moment, for me, given my work schedule.

How is your mom doing? I hope she is not in much pain. Send her hugs for us, if you can.

It's been touch and go, but the mass in her lungs wasn't cancer (House, MD level of diagnosis involved with that -- but they eventually figured out what caused it). Her kidneys are still in rough shape and overall they're keeping her to make sure nothing else goes wry, but she's working really hard to get to go home.

Right now, she's doing okay. Not well, but not awful. Hopefully she'll start getting some sleep. She's been having trouble with it for the past week or so...

I'm sure glad she doesn't have cancer. That's some good news at least.

I'm sorry the rest of it is so tough, and I hope she's feeling better soon.

Please pass along some more hugs!

We're all glad it's not cancer. We've been down that road before -- no thanks to doing it again. =/

I hope she is, too! I suspect part of it is her psych meds got warped a little thanks to everything else, so if they straighten that out she'll probably feel less manic and sleep better. :)

I will. <3 Thank you guys so much.

OMG, I didn't realize she was in the hospital! Where the heck have I been?!?!?

She's been in the hospital since mid-June, at this point. =/ Just one thing after another, sort of thing.

She's working real hard on getting out of there, though. Just might take a little longer than she'd like (sigh)

Excellent idea!

Do birthdays count? If so, then I last took pen to paper last week.

So tired, and Gary, you will appreciate this. I'm off to the oral surgeon to see if my implant is staying put. Last time, they yanked hard with calipers. Who knew titanium rods would hurt like that?
