Green Room - Week 18 - Day 11

"If you can't beat ’em make 'em bleed like pigs"

Or maybe just revoke their gym membership.

When there is any sort of movement, there is always going to be a counter-movement. I imagine Nazi Gyms sprouting up around the country to fill the need for places where Nazis can go exercise!

Today is the last day for the poll: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/1016144.html

Which is my own special way of personally stabbing you in the eye with a foreign object.

Other than being threatened with violence on a Monday morning and a vague reference to something in the news that made some people go "What is he talking about", how was your weekend?

Yay first! How did she find the missing relatives?

Today has only just begun... I've yet to see how it will go, but at least I have a caffeinated beverage to help me out, so there's that!

My weekend was good - got my hair trimmed, went to see Beauty & The Beast again, redid my manicure, did laundry, and voted in the poll, so fairly productive overall. Looking forward to a three day weekend!

I would totally go see B&tB again if I had someone to go with! I really loved it!

Can't say my weekend was productive. Slept and coughed mostly. I feel a bit better today but still not great. This too shall pass.
May. 22nd, 2017 03:30 pm (UTC)
I hope you feel all the way better soon. Coughing is its own kind of exhausting.

After a long weekend of being away from the news, spending time with my mother-in-law, who was visiting, thank you for throwing me back into the pig slop!

(At this point, KFP would do a whole "just kidding" dance he learned online.)

I don't have much to say except that I have a slight headache. I've been meaning to weigh in on the conversation about the future of LJI, but I don't have the time to read everyone else's comments. I would simply say that whatever makes sense for you is what you should do. Maybe you should put up a poll to determine how many people plan to stick with it if you stay on LJ, how many people would prefer you move to Dreamwidth, and how many prefer a third option (with a text box for them to type it). Honestly, I'm good either way, but I'd really hate to see LJ completely die. This has been my blog home for a long time.

One thing I suspected, and it's pretty much confirmed, is that people react differently depending on where they respond. The people who comment to LJ are mostly either "Stay on LJ" or "I'll go with Idol goes", the people who comment on FB are mostly "I'll go where Idol goes" and "go somewhere else".

The people who email me are mostly in the "anywhere but LJ, it's a moral imperative" and "This is a stupid overreaction, stay on LJ" camp. (that's the group that's the most passionate - the people *not* commenting in public)

Okay then. One of those mornings, huh? :-))

It's Victoria Day, so long weekend. KSPS aired Victoria all day yesterday. That was nice of them. They even sent all of us who support them in Canada a survey to find out what we like and don't like. That's nice too. Nothing like a little recognition to brighten the day.

Watched Dark Angel on Masterpiece last night. Oh, Anna how could you?! Whatever would Bates say? ;-))

My Saturday began with a tree falling from the back yard into the street. For the record, it pays to live next door to a guy who does tree work.
My Sunday was spent cuddling with my kitty once she forgave me for putting hairball treatment on her foot!!! *catly outrage*
My Monday has so far been fairly productive. Most of the annoying tasks on my to-do list have already been scratched off.

My weekend was exhausting.
This past weekend I went out to Stony Brook to watch my godson graduate from University (B. E. in Mechanical Engineering, cum laude)... but that involved attending 3 different events scattered across the enormous campus, and we mostly had to walk from one venue to another in 95 F (35 C) heat and high humidity. *THEN* I had to help him empty his dorm room... and like your typical 22-year-old male he was nowhere near packed, plus he had accumulated far too much stuff in the previous semester to fit into his mother's car, so a lot of it ended up getting thrown out or donated just before we drove away. Between all the walking and carrying I did, my muscles still ache severely...

RE: My weekend was exhausting.
But he graduated! Yay! (I am so glad for him, and for you too.) Congratulations to your godson!

My weekend was good: I ran a 5K, saw Guardians of the Galaxy, read and voted in the poll, and did all of my regular weekly household chores.

My boss is still overseas for most of this week so work should be quiet I hope. Today is state sales tax day though so I should get on that.

We saw Guardians too this weekend! I didn't realize I was singing along with the soundtrack until the guy next to me suggested that I might want to lower my volume :erk: Afterward SO declared, "You know, it's kind of scary that you know nearly every lyric to nearly every song there."

I don't "do" Facebook - what are the comments over there? The issue absolutely is one of traffic if you relocate. And one would hope that if you do move...it will be a stable location for at least another ten seasons! It's a conundrum.

My weekend had a huge five hour suckage in the middle of it when we drove two hours to look at a car because the guy PROMISED us it purred like a kitten and had had a zillion good things done to it. As soon as we saw it, our hearts sank, but the moment it was driven and the transmission nearly fell out...things got bad. What's wrong with people? He knew we were coming from two hours away.

May. 22nd, 2017 11:49 pm (UTC)
Oh jeeze, rotten luck on the car situation. People can be so disappointing.

My weekend was super busy, starting from Friday. I saw my psychologist for my second ASD evaluation appointment and left after bring told I'm very clearly on the spectrum and it's fine for me to talk about being autistic if that's something I want to do. Then I visited the heads of my improv theatre for a while, before heading home and getting ready to perform in the improv show I developed myself.

Saturday was a family day, followed by performing with my main improv group in the evening, which everyone seemed to think went well. These days I don't seem to be able to distinguish the difference between "good" shows and "bad" shows, or at least not the way other people do. My barometer for success seems to be different than theirs. I had fun, and then just generally didn't really think about it afterwards. I was more engaged in conversation with people afterwards talking about how autism affects me.

Yesterday my family went to Maker Faire for the first time, and saw lots of different creations and inventions. I liked it for the fact it got my kids out of the house and engaged in activities they seemed interested in, that weren't purely their typical video games. This is especially important for my diagnosed autistic son, who finds it difficult to move away from his typical activities, and then doesn't know what to do when he's bored and can't do them.

One of the things I miss about having moved out of the Bay Area is not having Maker Faire just down the road. So many things are happening or on display, and so many awesome local vendors are out. I'm glad your kids enjoyed it too. Was the giant game of Mousetrap back this year?

My weekend was pretty calm, which is something that hasn't happened in a while. Got some yard work done, did five loads of laundry (yikes!) and laid in the hammock reading and drinking a beer. It was kind of lovely. :)
May. 22nd, 2017 11:47 pm (UTC)
Me too! On the rare calm. It is an amazing novelty.

My weekend was good. Restful and depressing simultaneously, but good. I finally devoured Atwood's Handmaidens Tale and oh how it hurt and was glorious and gorgeous simultaneously. Also I cleaned house and cooked a special birthday dinner for my awesome mom, who came up to take care of my household while I drove halfway across peninsular Florida today to speak at a conference in Orlando tomorrow.

And now it is a dark and stormy night in Orlando- after a big hotel and p-card screw up, I made it to my conference just before a good central Florida thunder-boomer of epic proportions broke. I want to stay in and write Bryn and comment on entries now, but part of me feels like I ought to try to enjoy Lake Buena Vista too. What would you do, Idol? Orlando's only rock gym is 47 minutes away, so that plan is scratched.
