Green Room - Week 17 - Day 7

Good morning,

Nothing smells quite like waking up to the smell of napalm, it smells like... victory an Idol poll, it smells like... victory.

This Idol poll is very special. You all are very "special".

Personally, I think the Blind Box worked pretty well as a twist. The groupings though are going to interesting to see how they play out.

You may have noticed that I have decided to allow anonymous comments again.

A long time ago, back when trolls roamed the Earth, or at least LJ, there were contestants who were being harassed by them. It got pretty out of hand. So I make the decision to block access to anyone who wasn't willing to actually provide a user name.

It worked really well. At one point, I added "track IPs" when folks would create accounts just to harass people.

Things have slowed down in LJ-land, and due to unforeseen circumstances (or maybe should have seen coming circumstances) there are a couple folks who still want to be a part of the community, but don't want to be a part of Livejournal. Which is a complicated situation.

Last night I realized that I could, on a trial-basis, allow anonymous comments again. That would permit people to comment in the Community proper, without needing to sign the ToS. My goal with Idol has always been to reach *the most* people, not just a select group.

That said, if the troll situation returns or if the spam gets out of control - I may have to restore that restriction. It's something I'm keeping an eye on.

It shouldn't impact the day-to-day of Idol. But if you see anything weird, let me know - and if you are someone commenting without an user name attached, I ask that you please identify yourself in your comment.
