Loving DC so far!
We spent a couple of hours touring the Capitol. Due to the Sequester, our White House tour was canceled, so the House decided to make it up by having aides take people around on personal tours. Seeing the tunnels under the Capitol was an unexpected treat.
You have a link or something, but I expect that you already know it and can figure out where to link your entries. If you can't, ask someone, they will tell you!
Also, I've received a couple requests to post indiegogo fundraisers from some no good deadbeats. Or maybe Idolers. One of those things.
Probably both.
There are Idolers putting together a fantasy noir anthology: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/fanta sy-noir-anthology/x/968017
Another Idoler is doing something with those new fangled "hula hoops". It's a fad, like that rock and roll stuff. It will never catch on... http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/polyp ro-jess-hoops

I finally started working on my entry. Thank god for the extended deadline this week -- it took me until about 2 this afternoon to even have an idea I liked and fit my requirements for what I wanted to try and do this week. :) Hopefully it's as good on paper as it is in my head!
Which Idoler is doing the hula hoops? I didn't realize that was an Idoler! How cool!
I have had about a half-dozen ideas for my topic (Edge of the wold), and today I thought it might be fun to write something about Wold's Theorem (because I like to torture myself), which says, "Every covariance-stationary time series can be written as an infinite moving average process of its innovation process."
So I spent entirely too long looking up almost every word in that sentence. And now I have a headache.
No worries. I won't be writing my entry about that.
How's everybody else enjoying the freedom of having a unique topic this week?
Anyway, the capitol is WAY better than the White House (in my opinion, from what I remember in 6th grade). But I didn't get to see the tunnels, and now I am SO MANY JEALOUS.
Tea sent me an update about it, because she knows I'm interested in starting hooping. I'm still not sure I can donate yet, but I figured I could try to get word out at least.
(And thanks for the link, Gary!)

::hands you hot toddy::
How do you know if a cortisone shot has "taken"? I was told to give it a few days, and I have, but nothing feels right, IYKWIM. Maybe I should stop obsessing :p
(For those of you not on my FL, I had an accident where I slipped and landed on both kneecaps. Nothing broken, but it's unleashed a bunch of stuff I never knew existed...)
The idea is that the steroid (cortisone) coats the nerves to get them to calm down a bit, and also to take down some inflammation.
These shots may work instantly, or they may take a few days. Everybody's different. But one thing that always helps is taking it easy for a day or two so the steroid can seep in, get to work, and do its job. Like, if you can avoid walking around, just stay on the couch.
Of course, there are people who need more than one shot for it to work. I don't know why this is the case, but individual anatomy is an interesting thing in that regard.
There are some great perks, including some books by LJ Idolers, a personalized story by

Please check it out, and even if you can't donate, share it anywhere you can. We've almost made enough to afford the airfare!
Also, I'll gladly beta something in return should you need it. :)
