Love the twist, wish I could participate - oh well!

This, indeed is madness. But then again, that's what Idol is all about.

Ohhhhh wow. Just wow. I don't even. I have no idea how to choose or who would even be willing to do this for me.

Actually, I've asked someone already, based on the fact that she is a good writer and might say yes. But seriously? I don't have the "pull" to get an Idol alum or the experience to know what I'm doing here.

If it were me, I'm sure I'd probably ask someone who had previously gotten pretty far in the competition. I'm not saying this because I want to be asked - I clarified with Gary already; I'm not eligible, despite the fact no one saw my username in a poll and I only participated in one week of second chance... damn it, why did I do that?! I've championed before and my competitor survived so I'd have loved to have done this. ;)

Also I'd probably want to ask someone I know could work well with me in an intersection, because I'm like that. Love intersections, and this is the perfect opportunity to do one.

I was also going to ask - Gary, can past winners act as champions?

Wow. I am going to have quite a time choosing! I have some pretty amazing writers on my flist, mostly from my fanfic days . . . we'll see if any of them are willing to do it. They are really amazing, and have been writing for years. This is a very interesting twist indeed! I'll have to put an entry up, haha. Make them try out, even ;) Nah, I'm kidding.

The other one is interesting, too. Sins of Omission - I have quite a few interesting ideas for that one already!

As usual, I have questions. ;)

I understood the "not an S8 participant", which immediately torpedoed my knee-jerk plans.

But am I correct in assuming that the person does not have to have EVER been an Idol member? That they could just be some other really good writer we know? And whom we could miraculously persuade to churn this story out for us?

Not any easier, really, but at least I'd know what I'm aiming for. :)

Oh Lord, I have been asked to champion a friend, and I just really hope I will be an asset. I have never participated before, but I have been watching my friends as they have done so, and I have some big shoes to fill!

Gary, do we post the champion posts on our journal, or do you want the posts on the champion's journal? Also, do you want the champion's link in the same comment in the topic post as our link?

I must now get my dog to relenquish her hostage. Try as I might I am not able to leave her my leg and I have to go recycle fluids.

Does anyone have a list of all the topics that were used this season? I might do a home game intersection with someone this week so I'm curious what at the topics that can be used for the second chance/do over option are.

So considering I know no writers besides LJ Idol writers, this was going to be tough (though I did ask one person who always turns me down when I mentioned Idol, and alas, she's not responding this time either).

I have a partner, someone from Idol seasons of past, and now I'm freaking out because I have to come up with an idea. I've been on the other end of the champion bit (which turned out really well for Java as I sacked him that week), but this is the first time I needed to come up with an idea. Of course, I'm freaking out because of who my partner is and how cool and respected he is and...and...and yeah.

I need ideas. Luckily we both work from dreams a lot, so maybe a good night sleep will help. Let there be nightmares, I say! It provides the best Idol material.

Sort of a weird question, but how exactly do you define the Champion's job of "must write the entry for the contestant"?

I understand that obviously the Contestant would have some input on the entry - read it over, and probably help edit - but how much of the entry should be written by the Champion him/herself?

Pay no mind to the actual poll results, though, as LJ appears to have screwed them up somewhere along the line. :/ (I know this to be true because a} I did not top that poll, b} the person who appears to have come second in that poll was eliminated, and c} look how small those poll numbers are!)

I am incredibly happy to announce that my Champion will be onthefence, whom I met during Season 6, when her lyrical, complex personal essays and stark fiction courageously explored such topics as chronic illness, sexual abuse, and other personal challenges. She manages, always, to create beauty out of the rough and rocky raw materials of life. For that, I admire her, as well as for her unceasingly amazing personal strength. I am proud and excited to be working with her this week!

Ugh, I just feel stuck.

I've made pleas to several of the excellent writers on my friends-list, but many of them are swamped with Big Bang or just have no time/interest.

Walking up to someone from a prior season whom I don't know, and asking them to write a story for me-- using a prompt that I stalled out on myself? Ack.

This is where being a n00b works against you, because I don't really know anyone outside of this season, and they sure don't know me!

I know there is at least 1 other new person still left.

I'd ask my husband to set up an LJ and write something, but unless you want Turtles All The Way Down potentially being in lawyer-ese... I'm not sure that would work. :(

I have acquired an ususpecting victi... errr... Home Game Champion who has never competed (and maybe never voted) in Idol before. So, if he sticks his head in, everybody be nice.

My champion is a TOTAL pussy. Just sayin'.

I think I've got a Champion... I got a definite maybe from him, but he's super busy, and I'm kind of nervous and wondering if there's etiquette for poking a back-up Champion and asking them to be on stand-by... hrm. Also, all of my ideas for Sins of Omission are weird. I have decided that this is a good thing. You guys must like weird, or I wouldn't have made it this far. I may be looking to bounce some ideas around on IM later if anyone is interested.
