Poll #1830961 LJ Idol, Season Eight, Week Twenty-One- Merged Tribe
This poll is closed.

Welcome to Week 21, aka the Intersection, aka the new Merged Tribe! That's right, we've come a long way, but we are finally at the point of being one group!
One of these folks will become the next LJ IDOL! If that's not exciting, then I need to get out of the house more, because it seems pretty darned exciting to me!
The week was, as previously stated, an Intersection. Contestants, who normally work by themselves, were forced to pair up, which never fails to produce some interesting results, which in the best cases, elevates the work of them both in the process. They were given two topics, "Bridge" and "The Straw That Stirs the Drink". One of them had to write one, and the partner tackled the other.
Some people have been wondering how the poll is going to work.
I have an answer for that, but first - there's another question to be answered. We had an odd number of contestants, which means there was going to be an "Odd Man Out"/last person picked for dodgeball/the collective nightmare of Livejournal. This time, we actually had a volunteer to be that person:the_day_setup. There was some speculation on what was going to happen to him as a result of that.
Of course, he will be eliminated immediately. . .
Oh, wait... no he won't. That was my inside voice!
In fact, he has several options on the table. From the person not picked, to being the most powerful figure in the competition at the moment.
He has until Wednesday, April 4th at noon EDT to send an email to me at clauderainsrm@gmail.com selecting one of the following options:
- Individual immunity (being safe from the vote - good for this round only) and an immunity to hand out to one other team (good for this round only)
- Topsy Turvy (the ability to "flip the poll" upside down. The team with the HIGHEST votes will be going home. Good until the Top 40)
- Individual immunity (this round only) and the ability to bring one contestant eliminated between now and the Top 40 back, INCLUDING self.
Any one of those options is enough to tip whatever someone has perceived to be "the way things are", and considering how fluid that has been anyway, it's enough to really make a mark on the season. Which one will be pick? Who knows? I'll find out when he tells me! You will find out shortly after that!
As for the actually poll, the vote totals of the partners will be added together. The duo with the lowest combined total, will be eliminated*. (*Unless of course Topsy Turvy is played!)
The poll will close Thursday, April 5th at 9pm EDT, so make sure to get out there and read, comment, and vote for your favorites!
Good luck to everyone!

I haven't been to a Seder in years...
OTOH, it's the one choice that doesn't benefit
Choice #3, now... That one is tempting!
I am actually in a 'cheats' mood today am making red velvet cup cakes and brownies from, ......oh the shame....... a packet. I hide my head, but I am very tired, grandson might come, have ironed for way too long, and worked on other mundane tasks, yet I just want to paint. Life can be cruel.
Good luck, everyone! :D

Lol I think I had an entry in my first season called 'Turvy Topsy'. It was a Billy Wylde story of course. :)
Good luck everyone and try not to sweat all the potential doom ( I know, easier typed than done). Don't forget the free cookies.
Oh, I brought cookies. :)
Good luck, everyone!
And did I read that half of us may go home this week?
He has until the day before the poll closes to let me know what option he is taking. Once that happens, I’ll announce it. So, yes, you will know before the poll closes.
No. Not half of you going home – it’s the duo. Which means we are losing one pair/two contestants this round.
I'll offer in my defense that between Friday morning and now I've done two all day and a half day rehearsal with 97 kids, a rehearsal with my team for reality tv tomorrow, opened the kids' show (they were awesome and nobody died) beta-ed five entries and fought the backstage internet going in and out and my own writer's block, and I'm on the last two hours of a 15-hour overnight drive.
LJIdol, you're worth it! Thanks for being an amazing community of writers that makes me want to work no matter what!
You just had to be different....
Sometimes being old does not preclude love of music. Onto Muddy Walters, Howlin Wolf......better get my pills and rock to bed.
