Voting - Week 26

A few words from me:

Six contestants remaining.
Two topics.
Two polls to vote in.

With only a couple days to get two entries in, on top of anything else they might be doing. (I've heard some rumors of this "having a life" thing, but I've never actually seen it. So I think it must just be one of those urban legends. Anyone check snopes?*g*)

The results speak for themselves.

And you, the voters are about to respond!

Since there are two polls I'm going to spell things out to avoid confusion. (hopefully)

The contestant who has the lowest vote total in poll #1 will be leaving us.

The contestant who has the lowest vote total in poll #2 (who wasn't already eliminated - just in case it's the same person) will be leaving us.

As always, you can vote for as many, or as few, entries as you want to support.

After this round we will be down to our Final Four.

And yes, that means that this will be the last time the Spirit power comes into play. She will be giving someone, who hasn't received it yet over the last couple of weeks, immunity and the first slot in that group of 4!!

The poll will close on Wednesday March 25th at 8pm EDT. Good luck to everyone!

Wait...I'm confused about this is a bit...are you saying that if the same person is in last in both polls, then that person gets eliminated, plus the person who is second to last in poll 2, as opposed to the person who is second to last in poll 1? Meaning, if this happens, our End of the Rope entry is worth more than our Current Events entry?

The person eliminated in the first poll isn't around to be eliminated in the second.

So essentially, the polls are sequential? In other words, the results of the first poll take place "before" the results of the second poll?

I can see how this might be perceived as unfair. Consider the following hypothetical results:

Poll #1
Player A 125
Player B 101
Player C 100

Poll #2
Player B 125
Player A 124
Player C 100

Under the rules as described, Players C and A would be eliminated. Were the polls reversed, Players C and B would be eliminated.

Now, the choice of which poll is #1 and which is #2 is completely arbitrary. However, in the situation as described, Player A would have a legitimate beef, because overall, they received 23 more votes than Player B, yet they are eliminated on what amounts to a coinflip.

Food for thought.

This way was the suggestion of people who *didn't* like adding the two polls together last season.

Which just goes to show, people are going to bitch regardless.

Understood. I'm not criticizing, mind you, just trying to see all sides of the argument. And I wasn't around for last season, so apologies for not knowing that.

(I know it's too late to change anything now, but another possible way to handle this situation would be a runoff between A and B.)

I would go with "in case of tie, total votes counts." So, if the same person is last in both polls, then the person with the least total votes of the people who end up next to last in Poll A and Poll B is dismissed.

Or a runoff.

Of course, we never know all the twists each week when writing, and whatever is fine...but it does just seem arbitrary that I might have to be among the best 4 in one poll and only the best 5 in another.

It's like combining two weeks into one, so it's really not that much different than the regular game, other than revving up the timing as we race towards the finish.

yeah, I agree...it's just the fact that in 2 weeks, we know the first entry counts and THEN the second one...didn't have that advantage this time. not that it matters, really. I thought thought it seemed arbitrary. That said, I can also understand the complaint of people from last season when they didn't like the polls being combined.

Well I'm touting for an all-Thea's-f-list final, so I'd say alycewilson or abbismom, since they're only ones left who are eligible and on my f-list! And both are utterly deserving in their own right.

Considering how early it is voting wise, and the narrow margin I'm not sure that ultimately that means much. I guess we'll see when the poll closes.

Because I love you all...
I am going to fight my way through my headache and read now, so that I can vote.

After that, I am going to pull the couch over in front of the broom closet and chain myself in for the night.

ETA: And done.
